I went into this movie thinking this movie was gonna be a joke. I misjudged this movie. This is probably more honest and realistic portrayal of real people and real problems and real story lines. Christian movies are very cleaned up. The bible is not cleaned up, its raw. Thats kind of what you get here. The movie is about a sinner and non beleiver that finds Jesus and is saved by him. It's the same story line as every Christian movie just a different plot. People are just upset they're black. Jesus was still Jesus and well portrayed by a great actor. I study Bible daily.

You're very much on point! Honestly, the religious haters complaining that it was blasphemous or a mockery of their god, got me to go watch it for myself. The trailer did honestly give me vibes of Monty Python: Life of Brian, but with black people. I also loved the references to the Gnostic texts, along with having Mary Magdalene actually be a legit apostle and the portrayal of Barrabas. Also, holy fuck, the baptism scene had me DYING especially. I'm no longer Christian, but my personal practice also comes from believing because I know and witnessed, not from blind faith or because said structure was passed down so that synopsis definitely spoke to me. The movie definitely wasn't as blasphemous as I thought it would be, but I felt like it was the religious satire we kind of needed, due to that, along with the need to keep challenging people who are so afraid to understand the full aspect of what faith they've been professing all these years! All n all, very much enjoyed it

I just watched this last night , the trailer depicts it as a comedy HOWEVER once I actually took the time to watch it I realized Clarence was literally an image of a lot of us , thinking that god is used as an image to make money , or the fact that we struggle with believing in what we can’t see , this was a story about a man who struggled with his faith until it was restored by actually getting to know and believe in god . I feel like people are trying to overly dissect this movie by debating scriptures in the Bible ! It’s not as hard to understand as people are trying to make it out to be .

Yes indeed, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and definitely picked up on the references to police brutality and racism against black people. I also loved the fact that Clarence was searching for knowledge and found that The Creator is real and true. I myself had once been on a journey to find solid proof and boy oh boy, did I get my answer in the most groundbreaking and nearly sacrificial way! Now here’s a question I’ve been wanting to ask other viewers: Did yall notice how when Mother Mary described her encounter with Arch/Angel Gabriel, her depiction of him almost seemed alien/extraterrestrial-like? 🤔

I think a Great Deal of the speculation and hate this movie got was because Jay-Z had a hand in producing it. But Anyone who has done the research on what jay says in his music-he himself is an occultist and believes himself to be higher than god. I personally enjoyed the movie, But Also had My own convictions as to how some things were depicted. I Didn’t See A single middle eastern person, I Could Be wrong, But there are other inaccuracies Such as Jesus and his disciples being modern day celebrities And Gaining wealth and likability when the reality was contrary to the depictions. I see the way they went about talking about the poison of religious leaders in our time and the greed that drives them. I agree that the church has been blasphemous in their practice. But The movie director himself said it was not about Jesus. There’s a group called the 5% or Something along those lines. Just do the research. Like I said I enjoyed the movie and it honestly made me tear up and think of my own sins and convictions, But There’s A Reason things Go The Way They Do. We’re all Gods People, And We Should Set Our Pride Aside to Truly Know What God Has Planned For Us. Sorry for the rant, Hope I haven’t lost anyone this far. God Bless All of You Beautiful People And May You Have A Blessed Day. 💚🙏

It's increasingly apparent that for black filmmakers to authentically portray black perspectives, their narratives often need to be disguised as either comedy or horror. "BOC" was marketed as a comedy but diverged significantly from that genre, incorporating elements of redemption and belief alongside the stark portrayal of the trauma endured by black mothers due to racially motivated violence. The Roman soldiers symbolized the oppressive forces of the Catholic Church, historically known for suppressing claims of messianic figures. Interestingly, there's been a clandestine organization dedicated to identifying twin flames and any black man perceived as a messiah. The cancellation of "Love Craft Country" after just one season was disappointing, as it provided a powerful depiction of the historical oppression of black people and their continued perseverance to restore the holy trinity- black man, woman and child.

The Gospel of Judas was really good I read the Gospel of Judas and the Gospel of Thomas about the same time it was first Thomas and then it was Judas but Judas I love that scene where Jesus brings him away from the group to show him what he'll never be able to attain but tells him he knows who he is.. How he keesp saying to Judas his star is risen to that that point now his anger is there and he's going to betray him even sayig hes the adversary. He was the only one out of the apostles to answer when Jesus laughed at them. He was the only to stand and say he knew who Jesus was. I read it once and I was going to read it again and I got a little bit through it and I stopped but I would absolutely love if you would do this in one of our groups... I know we did Thomas so if you did the gospel of Judas in the group we'd luv it...

Clarence died on the cross the same as Christ death. They didn’t even change the details. He also died an unbeliever and then was resurrected by Jesus and was chosen to spread the gospel message. Jesus died on the cross for our sins for a reason. He had no sin. You cannot change the story line of the messiah. The entire reason why he did that is because we don’t have to be under the burden of the law so we can receive salvation. If anyone else is on that cross besides Jesus (especially if you’re faking it and trying to relieve your debt, the crucifixion means nothing). This is a footstool for the enemy and he is able to do so much with a little wiggle room. Deuteronomy 4:2 do not add or take away from the commandments im giving to you. I'm a studied Christian I'm black and I watch the whole movie I disagree with this being historically accurate there are many creative liberties taken in this movie and it was extremely blasphemous to the Christian faith The acting was good cinematography was good the score was good So we're in agreement there But this movie pulls heavily from the infancy Gospel of Thomas which is a 2nd century writing In comparison to Revelation the last book written in the New testament was finished in the 90s the gospel of Mark was written as early as the mid-40s and as late as the early 70s and the last gospel John was written in the mid-80s to the early 90s The infancy Gospel of Thomas was written almost a hundred years later and is thought to be pseudepigrapha It also contains Gnostic teachings as well as making Jesus a child murderer it also contains the clay pigeon story told in this movie as well as the Quran The infancy Gospel of Thomas is more a greco Roman work of fiction written by 2nd century gnostics then the first century writings of Christian Jews like we find in the New testament So in other words the writing style is wrong the content of the writing is wrong and the time period it was written is wrong these are the reasons the infancy Gospel of Thomas has never been accepted as inspired scripture The book of Clarence pulls more from the 5%er and gnostic ideologies than it does from the Christians and these ideologies can't be reconciled Lastly the Benedict Cumberbatch character AKA the white Jesus comes out of medieval artwork not the 1st century in fact most of if not all of the early pictures of Jesus gives us either brown or Olive tone skin not white And for those who don't know The oldest picture of Jesus is thought to be ancient graffiti insulting a Roman Christian
