Same! I'm slowly working on my own garden at home as well. Touring these beautiful gardens was so inspirational.

I went to Prince Edward Island for the love of Anne (as do most of their tourists, of course) and, while I didn't exactly GO to Scotland just for Outlander locations, I certainly dragged my husband to many of them while we were there! I've also gone to several locations from Laura Ingalls Wilder's life. Oh, and I went to Mexico, Maine because of the delightful memoir "When We Were the Kennedys." I've probably been to more book locations I don't remember at the moment, because when I started writing this comment I'd only thought of PEI!

PEI is one of the top places I want to visit! I think the Laura Ingalls Wilder locations would be great as well.

Beautiful video! I loved reading Corrie ten Boom's books (The Hiding Place, Tramp For The Lord, In My Father's House), her story is so inspirational so when I was in Amsterdam in 1991 I made sure to go to Haarlem where her home above her father's watch shop is now a museum (and I think, still a working watch shop). Wouldn't you know the museum was closed for renovations! But it was surreal standing on the cobblestones in front of the shop on a drizzly morning and soaking in the atmosphere. When I got home and had my pictures developed I couldn't believe that in one of the pictures I took in front of the shop, I had captured an older women riding a bike down the street . If you know, you know🥰 Same trip I visited the Anne Franke house.

I love British style gardens specifically. When my husband and I visited England in 2018, we visited one called Hidcote Garden in the Cotswolds. It said on their website that it was like an Alice in Wonderland garden and it did not disappoint!

Hi Mitzi, I just loved this video! Thank you so much. I love gardens too and these were so beautiful. I am reading Onward and Upward in the Garden now at your recommendation and do love it so much. So I will probably want to visit those gardens too. When we went to England I wanted to see all the gardens. And I love finding more garden books to read. Since you are enjoying these so much, you would love the vintage garden writer Beverly Nichols! His books are so wonderful and full of humor. He wrote about gardens and his houses and neighbors. As a start look for Merry Hall, a trilogy about fixing up a house and garden. I hope you find and love his writing as I do.😊❤❤

Agreed! I read some of his books years and years ago. They've stayed with me, and may even be the inspiration behind my love of gardens and old houses.

New subscriber here! I LOVE gardens, gardening, all things garden related and reading about gardening. I collect garden related books too, have a whole library devoted to gardening and garden writers and still I'm getting more books all the time. I love the idea of a "reading garden," but I can't sit that still in a garden, I have to get up and start doing something, weeding, or deadheading or something. I have never been the type to sit still and just relax in the outdoors for very long, but I love the idea of a "secret garden" room where one could sit and be alone and read or even just pray. I also love the idea of visiting the gardens of garden writers. There are so many! A dream would be to visit Munstead Wood in England to see Gertrude Jekyll's gardens, or to see the gardens which inspired Beatrix Potter. There are many in the USA too. Writer's or author's and the gardens that inspired them could be a national garden tour theme! I imagine such a thing is already happening actually. Loved the video! I will be watching more. Thank you!!

What a beautiful video! I love gardens, too, and I'm always so impressed by those large, immaculate, and beautifully designed ones. They're so often somebody's life's work. I have never visited a place because I read a novel set there, but I've certainly thought about it. After I read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil I thought Savannah sounded fabulous and beautiful. And for years, when I was young, I used to think about going to the back blocks of Maine because of We Took to the Woods.

I teach the Japanese Language and Classical Literature from that country, so when I went there I visited several places mentioned in books, and it was a wonderful experience! Love the clips that you showed us, those kinds of wild gardens are what I enjoy the most. Your enthusiasm is contagious!!!

I would love to go to Prince Edward Island. I'm jealous! I have always wanted to see an owl out in the open. I have been to Hulda Klager Lilac Garden in Woodland, WA. It's a designated National Historic Sight. I read her the story about the garden called Where the Lilacs Still Bloom....by Jane Kirkpatrick. The Butchart Gardens are iin Victoria B.C. They are gorgeous but i don't know if there is any books about these gardens.

Next time I fly into Charlotte, I have to do this!! I think I'll have to add two days onto my trip though! IT'll take that long to really see it all. But ugh. I usually go in autumn, though.
