Book Discussion on Politics, Ethics and Emotions in 'New India' by Prof. Ajay Gudavarthy at JNU.
SBF's first book in the Reshaping India series with Routledge critically analysing how emotions shape politics and ideological proclivities, the book suggests ways in which progressive forces can constructively mobilise ethics and emotions. As the book's introduction asks-
"Without making sense of emotions, understanding of the Right merely through ideological frames is insufficient. What are the emotions they mobilise and how do they do it, and can those who stand opposed to them appeal to emotions in a similar way?...How do we (progressives) remobilise and occupy ethics and emotions that are not majoritarian, ethics that do not eschew co-responsibility, and emotions that do not produce a valorised self? What is the interface between ethics and emotions that we need to envisage, and how can we carve newer space for what can be identified as ethical emotions?"

@@sandipbiswas3997 Did you not hear how D Raja went on a rant and deviated completely off topic?? Didn't talk about the book or address how BJP is winning elections, which is what the book is about. What's the use of such ideological rant?? And I have no ideology. But I have been listening to some communists speak and given the amount of visceral hate they have for anything even remotely related to Indian culture and their extremely stupid ideas on economics, I am sure I would never vote for them and I will be happy as long as these clowns stay out of power, which seems like it's going to be a long time.
