Departing from experience, the pots that I made before all used sand and the results were all cracked, they couldn't stand the hot weather, and now I use calcium carbonate and cement, the results are very satisfying, even though my pots are exposed to heat and rain, I'm not worried about cracking anymore.

Compared to sand and cement, according to my experience, calcium and cement are more heat resistant, not easy to crack
