I thought the song was about not letting fear control or hold us back. There is the element of wanting to escape everything and get away but that was symbolising how they (the singer and their love) would break free of their fear. Im no expert on music but i didnt get the same thing from the words.

Think about it.- Yea it LOOKS like she died in the end... BUT ..... did she REALLY??? You see her/ then you see the explosion ... how many movies out there- are there that show the person dieing at the end- only to turn around on the next movie following afterwards;- and end up being alive???
