Bonnie Tyler - It's A Heartache (Official HD Video)
Official remastered HD video for 'It's A Heartache' by Bonnie Tyler.
Released in 1978, It's A Heartache was a global smash hitting number one in Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Brazil and Argentina and number four in the UK, number three in the US and number 2 in Germany. Along the way it sold 6 million physical copies worldwide (including a million in France and the US and 1/2 a million in the UK).
The song has been covered many times by a diverse list of artists including Rod Stewart, David Johanson (of the New York Dolls,), Ronnie Spector of the Ronettes, Glaswegian Indiepopsters Arab Strap, rocker Gene Vincent and, most recently, pop superstar Miley Cyrus.
Lyrics;
It's a heartache
Nothing but a heartache
Hits you when it's too late
Hits you when you're down
It's a fool's game
Nothing but a fool's game
Standing in the cold rain
Feeling like a clown
It's a heartache
Nothing but a heartache
Love him 'til your arms break
Then he let's you down
It ain't right with love to share
When you find he doesn't care for you
It ain't wise to need someone
As much as I depended on you
Oh, it's a heartache
Nothing but a heartache
Hits you when it's too late
Hits you when you're down
It's a fool's game
Nothing but a fool's game
Standing in the cold rain
Feeling like a clown
It ain't right with love to share
When you find he doesn't care for you
It ain't wise to need someone
As much as I depended on you
Oh, it's a heartache
Nothing but a heartache
You love him 'til your arms break
Then he let's you down
It's a fool's game
Standing in the cold rain
Feelin' like a clown
It's a heartache
Love him 'til your arms break
Then he let's you down
It's a fool's game

In an interview just after this was released, the interviewer called her the female Rod Stewart. She responded immediately, with a smile, saying Rod Stewart was the male Bonnie Tyler.
One night, many moons ago on a balmy July night (being the music loving teenager that I was) sitting in the family station wagon listening to music and this song came on, one of my favorites at the time. Then out comes my dad from the house. I just knew he was gonna tell me to turn off the music and for me to get my butt in the house. To my surprise, he sat in the passenger seat and said "Turn it up!" I was kinda shocked because he hated my music lol. That was over 40 years ago and he is no longer here but I will never forget sharing that special moment in time with my dad.

who hurt her, to make such beautiful and touching words and then to give such a vocal performance. I cried so much during each listen and will continue to do so. 70-80s music will always be my heart.
Not only her voice is very good, but the gestures she makes when singing the song, are very appropriate really. Bonnie Tyler is a great performer.

The golden era of music. From the lyrics, beat of the song, vocals everything exudes art. The song is not just music; it is a masterpiece. Gone are the days that music can be written and produced without the need to sexualized it's lyrics. Gone are the days where music dignifies humanity; music nowadays degrades humanity.
I was 14 years old when this song came out. It was constantly passing on the jukebox. 46 years later, Bonnie Tyler's voice still gives me chills.

It was one of my grandmother's favorite songs! She had a long fight with cancer, and one day in the hospital before going to sleep, she wanted to hear this song but didn’t remember the name, and we just remembered the melody! Since we don't speak English, I looked for this song putting all kinds of words that we could remember of it, and searched on 70s/80s music playlists on KZread, until I finally found it! Everybody was so proud and happy lol! She was very happy, and started listening to it again! I miss her so much, and every time we listen this song, we remember of her!

When I heard it on the radio I thought the melody line was ripping off The Pretenders "I'll Stand By You." Then I looked it up and saw this came out 17 years earlier. I think The Pretenders subconsciously drew from this melody. Not exactly the same but it flows up and down the same way.

Bonnie has a powerful voice and sings with deep feeling. And what tremendous stage presence!
My sister had this song on a single when it was released, she was 8 years old and played it constantly. My parents and I knew every word and note before long. She died suddenly, unexpectedly, in April of 2014. This video came up in my feed; there are many types of heartache and some that never really vanish.
Inolvidable! Los maravillosos 70's...Thanks!❤❤❤❤❤❤
No other voice like hers. So fitting for this song. The production is an all time favorite. Love the acoustic ringing out front with a great sounding bass and drums. The strings knock it out of the park along with electric guitar parts. I never grow tired of this.

I remember listening to this in the car with my dad when I was a kid (he would only listen to oldies). I LOVED it, and begged him to get the CD. Pretty sure it's still at my parents' house today, haha.
Turning 70 soon and this song still takes me back to the times I first heard it. Beautiful song from a beautiful lady.
Escuchaba ésta canción en el 78' y me encantaba hoy con 62 años nunca pensé que de algún modo sería mi destino!!😔 Un beso y abrazo a los que aman la música de los 70 y 80, lo mejor😘

@@sherry10-4 I am 51, so I was an 80's child, and I will say, when you look at the record sales of any song over ten years old, ppl are still buying music from the 80's and before.. 90's and until 10 years ago music( to put it in a retrospect of buying older music) is not such a hot sell.. its rare for ppl to buy something from like 10 to 20 years ago. and when was the last time you heard a band/ singer perform in a stadium that started career in last 20 years? I do not kow of any, but I am sure if there is some, more stadium tours are from the time of 80's and prior.

I get the sentiment, but her rasp is apparently not genetic. She had nodules removed from her vocal cords and she was supposed to give her voice a break after surgery but she didn't.
Un clasico gracias bony..❤❤❤😢

Goodness I loved this song when I was a kid in the 80’s. I wasn’t old enough to completely understand the lyrics, but understood enough to know it was a pretty heavy subject. But I absolutely loved Bonnie’s voice & the melody, the two elements that somehow simultaneously kept it up tempo. I never realized there was a video for it. Nice surprise.
