People need to realize Julie never really cared about Bonnie’s character, we never got to see her parents and they never explored much of her psychic side. She’s practically just a plot device, a literal character that’s meant to move the plot forward. Making her the anchor was a way to torture Kat Graham’s character as a way of obtaining revenge. You could clearly see the first time we got to see her dad was the second his character died. She’s basically just a living plot armor for the main characters, she resurrected Jeremy from the dead using expression only when Jeremy was actually needed. She showcased just how powerful she could be when she fought countless vampires, as a way to make the audience believe she could do anything. They never really explained how expression worked, all Plec did was make Bonnie do things just to keep the plot going. Or when Bonnie brought herself back to life and the only explanation we got from Damon was. “She cast a spell.” You see just how less Julie Pled cares about her character?

The spell she did that resurrected herself was a body preservation spell or she did a protection spell off camera. (I think this is the case)

If you're referring to when Bonnie supposedly "died" after she fought Klaus-Alaric in season two, it's because she cast a protection spell before the fight that revived her off-camera. Maddox did the same for Alaric, which explains how his human body was able to tank Bonnie's telekinesis. As for Expression, Grahms stated that it's "the manifestation of [Bonnie's] will," which is why she didn't need to cast spells when using it. But I agree with you that the writers treated Bonnie's character horribly.

Julie really hated bonnie/kat bc there was never a reason to put her through this

Most of the "villains" in the show were fighting for something or showed signs of remorse: Markos wanted to live a normal life again by breaking the Traveler's curse. Silas wanted to spend eternity in the afterlife with Amara. Katherine, on the other hand, went out of her way to make people suffer. Many of which didn't deserve to. The last thing she did before dying was inject Elena with the ripper virus, so Elena wouldn't be able to get back together with Stefan.

@asbaran Kathrine mentality stems from the fact that she is seeing Elena her look alike get everything she couldn't because Klaus took it from her and basically kept her in a fight or flight mentality thus seeing everyone as an enemy. These other power what they're reasoning doesn't make up for shit considering all the evil they did and would probably do to get wat they want they are terrible people

Bonnie only psychic powers was when Elena fed on her and she made her blood boil within Elena’s mouth, then she broke all the bones in her body and she collapsed. Or when Bonnie screamed and created a powerful psychic dimension, or when she yelled at main characters to get out of her head. Those were the only three scenes when she used psychic powers. Julie Plec cared less about her character.

Grahms implied that she contacted the Gemini Coven to save Bonnie and Damon by asking them to send the two to the 1994 Prison world. Bonnie and Damon were locked in the Other Side, so the only way to save them was to magically transport them into another parallel dimension. It also resurrected Damon in the process.
