BONFIRE NIGHT: Police escort fire engines and ladder trucks responding with siren on Fireworks Night

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Police escort fire engines and aerial ladder trucks responding with siren and lights during Guy Fawkes Night celebrations in Glasgow, Scotland.
Bonfire Night, also known as Fireworks Night or Guy Fawkes Night (formerly Gunpowder Treason Day) is a celebration of the failed attempt on the life of King James I on November 5, 1605 and takes place annually on November 5.
The event starts with Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, who was caught guarding explosives beneath the House of Lords at parliament in London. The intention was that the explosives would kill King James I and destroy part of the House of Lords. Due to the failed attempt, people lit bonfires around London; leading to the annual celebration of the 5th November.
Guy Fawkes was hung, drawn and quartered as punishment for his crimes.

Today the event is still widely celebrated by lighting bonfires and igniting fireworks. How-ever due to the intensive use of pyrotechnics, each year the event causes many injuries, accidental and also intentional fires involving vegetation, rubbish, vehicles and buildings. As a result, this is one of the busiest nights for fire services and emergency services - as shown in this video.
All fire appliances in this video are Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and all police vehicles are Police Scotland.

    Clips are fire ones, Police Scotland callsigns are WAY too hard to find. All Scottish ARP's (Delta) are the first wholetime crew (1), hence everyone being a D1 unit. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    @@kexvan It still perplexes me that in the USA you can walk into a supermarket and buy a firearm, handgun ownership is legal, kids can join gun clubs etc etc, yet (quite rightly) they deem fireworks such a hazard that they prohibit the sale of them to the public in the vast majority of states, and even the few states which do permit over the counter sales the individual purchasing has to provide a reasonable excuse for wanting them and provide ID etc. Yet over here you can buy as many as you want from Tesco or the late closing corner shop, no questions asked, which fall into the hands of complete and utter scumbags who use them to attack us and innocent members of thepublic?! Some morom I scraped up off the street last week said to me "yous' lot get paid like loads to deal wiv dangerous stuff, so it's like just a hazard of the job, 'innit" No. I don't care if you're Ambo, Trumpton or a Bobby, NOBODY should be subjected to verbal or physical abuse, let alone have explosives launched at you! Was legit about to say the same. I've also seen on Social Media, that Ambulances were also targeted with bricks and that.....it's simple, if you damage Police cars, ambulances or fire engines, people could die or be at serious risk of injury. On the fireworks point, I also agree, why shops like Tesco and that sell it, I'll never know.

  • @Penster-Elle

    @Penster-Elle

    2 жыл бұрын

    Not illegal. It's a fairly recent thing as a result of speed and traffic light cameras catching emergency responders in the split second when the blue emergency lights aren't visible between flashes. The steady blue light will always be visible and so stop the unnecessary staff work when the vehicles are photographed.

  • @roger4430

    @roger4430

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I know that. But showing a light to the rear other red is illegal, subject to exceptions of which steady blue is not one (Reg. 11 Road Vehicle Lighting Regs 1989). Having had a further look at the reg. it seems a steady blue on a police vehicle might be OK but not on any other emergency vehicle. If this is a recent change, can you quote the reg? I'd like to check because I don't think it said that last time I looked.

    It's in case they go through a speed camera or a red light camera. The pattern of the lights means that in some instances when the camera takes the photo it can look like there is no emergency lights on. The steady burn light will always show up in the photo, thus proving they were actually on a blue light run and weren't just speeding. Most Emergency vehicles now have at least one steady burn light.
