Thinking about a lot of things, listening to this. After my dad and my mother got divorced, he moved out. He could take the dogs, our pet snail, and two cats with him, my tortoise had to stay at mom's place. A while after he had settled in the new apartment, my dad and I, we had to take one of our dogs to the vet, as she was doing really bad. She passed away, 12 years old, my dad was upset about it but didn't talk at all afterwards. Little time pass, and we notice more and more that one of our cats have stopped eating and doing anything, he's just hiding. We talk about moving him to mom's apartment again, he seems to have gotten in a horrible and deep depression here. One day, we can't find him. Morning after, my dad says he passed away. At this point, my mind goes blank. He was so young, and to pass in such a horrible way and place, it was at this time I realized it wasn't fate. This was entirely our fault. Sometimes I even blame dad alone, but we never talk about it, I always pretend like nothing ever even happened. Shortly after, my dad's friend whom he's known for over 20 years, committed suicide. He was always such a close friend to our family, I read his suicide letter in secret that my dad kept, it's a shame I didn't even get to say goodbye. I read the note right after our pet snail passed away too. This all happened at the same time. I can't stop thinking about it, if I wasn't depressed before, if I wasn't having trouble going to school before, now I sure do. If my dad wasn't a weirdass dad before, now he sure is. He started to drink a lot, I kept going to my mom's place in tears because I was scared of him. I attempted suicide after everything, in the middle of a mental breakdown, I was ready to slam my head on the counter to meet the knife I held. My dad was working and our dog was at our mom's apartment for the time being, I was shaking so hard but I was ready, I couldn't take it. Just as I lifted my head to throw it down, the cat meowed at me, he sat there staring at me, he was hungry. He really cleared my mind a bit, it'd be fucked if I killed myself infront of our cat, fuck I mean who's gonna take care of my tortoise? And to die in a place like that? It'd fucking suck, especially in the middle of all this, especially if you're 16 I texted my friend that we needed to spend more time together, that I'd like to talk to her more often, mostly so I don't do anything stupid again. She didn't care, at all, even though when she was crying and I comforted her almost every day, when we talked about how we'd visit each other one day. So I wont message her again. Either way, I still have my tortoise, and another cat I hold dear to my heart at my mom's place, I will forever be thankful my cat here at dad's apartment saved my life. I also met a very sweet girl in college, we have a lot of things in common and we're really happy together, she's so kind and nice to be with, such a breath of fresh air. I'm really glad, also got a really cool therapist. idk why anyone would ever read such a long message, mostly just sending this out to the void, just wanted to talk about it, but if you read this far then i want you to know, even if im a teenager, i believe in you :) life is shit, but believe it when people say it gets better, im still waiting for it to be better personally, but i know it, and i believe in you. EDIT: Girl in college turned out to be.. very rude and self centered after a while, she randomly got very mad at me sometimes and I don't need more toxic things in life. But I'm still staying strong, my dad got shit from my mom so he's not drinking as much anymore, my mom has made me do self care lately and takes days off from work just to make sure I don't do anything stupid to myself again- They've all got problems, the world planet got fucked up problems, but that doesn't mean we wont keep going.
