Bonafide Kayaks RVR 119/ Reimagining River Fishing Kayaks

Спорт

I finally got my hands on the new Bonafide Kayaks RVR 119 river fishing kayak. I'm so excited to see this category of kayaks really making a resurgence in the past few years with the creation of the Crescent Shoalie, Jackson Coosa X, and finally the Bonafide RVR. Bonafides long time designer Hans Nutz has made waves in recent years with his unique perspective and attention to detail on designs like the SS127, RS117 and my personal favorite the EX123. After looking the new RVR119 over I can tell he put a lot of thought into the details river fisherman look for. I see a few things which may be lacking, or where other designs might have an edge, but I'll save that for my full review coming out soon. In the meantime enjoy a quick walk around of the new boat. If you have anything to add from personal experience please leave those thoughts in the comments section.
Thanks Bonafide for sending me the boat to check out!

@@HeadwatersKayak agreed! I’d be so down for that. Texas is in a bit of a drought so it may have to be out west in your home waters! we need to do something in 2024

Once bonafide comes out with a fishing kayak that’s meant to be fast I will probably buy it.

I don’t fish ( I can only afford so many hobbies 😊) but I really appreciate the design of fishing kayaks. Very cool.

Cool review. I learned for sure. All those angles and edges in Poly always have me wondering about long term but I suppose it’s just all about lots of material.

The routing for the anchor wizard line is a tube that connects the whole way through the hull, so water doesn't leak in there. Use a piece of weed wacker string to fish it through.

Took me a few trips to really finally appreciate the Shoalie. Great in shallow waters.Probably still prefer the LT2 overall. I can’t wait to try one of these RVRs out. Still think that little ck1 is just flat out hard to beat on something like the lower Moke or Lower Stan. More time you spend in it the better it gets and the rod management is beautiful.

Agreed $ for $ it’s tough to beat the CK-1. Just floated the Moke the other day. It was beautiful.

Hans @BOnafide has launched the first series of truly Drill Free KaYaKs. The RVR quickly followed up by the SKF and finished with the Venerable SS127’s replacement the PWR which has the highest Drill Free feature list yet. You missed the 2 mount points hidden by screws mid deck. Pull the screws and brass fittings for Yak Attack studs are already molded in.

Loads of smart features for sure. One thing I missed in my test paddle was a low seat option. It felt too heavy and awkward in pushy currents.

I’ve been watching your channel for awhile and really enjoy the information on all types of kayaks. I currently own a 2020 hobie outback but I want to start getting into a non pedal kayak for streams or lakes. I don’t know where to start. Would you mind giving me an idea as to what kayak would be the best fit for that? Definitely fishing in mind but not entirely dedicated to river fishing. Thank you!!!

It's OK. There isn't a seat adjustment. Needs to lower on some rapids. The top, sides need to be more rounded, when water hits it, it pulls it down to much, pitting a anchor wizard is useless cause you bang your knuckles on the seat when trying to use it. The skeg works a little but not much. If they fixed these things it would be a great river boat.

What is the difference in the rvr and the skf? By appearance, they look alike. Could you do a review on the skf and/or a side by side comparison? Many thanks!!

This is a really cool looking boat. Since you mentioned the Shoalie, would you rather the flatter bottom with the skeg that this boat has, or the more pronounced keel of the Shoalie?

I can't say 100% until I paddle it, but I really love the idea of the Skeg. After spending time in both the LT2 and the Shoalie, I found myself enjoying the handling of the LT2 better on our local river. I'll get a review out soon, and possibly do a side by side comparison. I wish I had access to a Coosa X as well. I really enjoyed that boat, and would love to compare all three side by side.

It looks like a nice boat but that thing looks heavy as hell. Having a kayak like this you really need a truck or a trailer and the added weight and size makes depolying it take time and effort.

I just dislike their hull designs. All of their boats are just barges and I hate how they paddle. Too slow. Seems almost every other fishing SOT boat paddles easier and is faster. Even the EX123 is slow and it’s suppose to be a “touring” boat when it’s not.

Insteresting. Speed is all relative to me. I’ll be curious to see how it compares to other kayaks I’ve tested.
