Taken from Bon Jovi's rehearsals for their SNL appearance in 1993. The cameras only recorded video (no audio) of an early jam for the first 10 minutes, so this one was cut away. Very bad source VHS, in fact, you could still hear audio leftovers of what had previously been on the tape at the bottom of the right chanel. Therefore I duplicated the left one tried to smooth the rather pixilated footage by remastering it in VirtualDub.

Man these guys sound better in rehearsals than other bands do in studio recordings. So professional! That is lost on this generation.

I feel like these versions of Bed of Roses are some of the closest to the original recording, if not THE closest. They all sound incredible. Jon's voice was so powerful here. And Richie, man! He's brilliant, I wish he'd never left the band. Thank you for sharing this footage!

It sounds so similar because they were lip syncing to the original track. And yes Richie was incredible. But imo the best thing he did was leave the band

@@mariannetuite7411 Bull! You can clearly hear it's live.Theres' a kick in the microphone when they sing. Also, if they were lip syncing there wouldn't be need to rehearse, would it?? Unfortunately Jon can't sing anymore, so I guess the fans can come here to re-live his glory days.

At THAT time? They were not even 10 years in their carreers. Today they are at 35 years. Although this was Bon Jovi's first come back with their 5th studio album and almost having written all their greatest hits at the time, this was stil a young Jon. The guy was around 30 years old back then.

He could do no such thing without help, even then. Richie, David and Tico all had/have superior voice. Jon has an ego second to none and an ability to work a crowd

Jon sat at the edge of the stage right in front of me and Sang Bed of Roses in Jersey...so close I could touch him. I did meet him and have many pics I took that he signed for me. Makes them one of a kinds. All this era ...Faith These Days & Destination Anywhere..the best years
John's voice here is fantastic!!! Beautiful music, from a great artist!!!

why? the footage is 25 years old. richie has moved on. being in a band is not a life sentence. plus, he was always a hired member of the band. so if Richie wants to do other things i think fans should let him be. his choice-his life

Javy C you literally repeat JBJ’s words lol. If you know this band you know damn well he was way more than a ‘hired hand’. He co-wrote the songs you so enjoy, and brought them to life thousands of times.

Richie was very well compensated but only Jon has his name on the contract. the record company only wanted to sign Jon, so therefore, Richie was a hired hand. he was probably the most prolific hired hand off all time and the most paid, but anyway you slice it those are the facts.

He started smoking not long after that. That gave his voice that rough husky quality later on in his 40s
Richie's tone is out of this world! Jon sounds amazing, too!
It’s insane, his voice seems just infinite at that time!! Perfect vowels, onsets and formant tuning. No throaty, choking sound.

Lovely song! It’ll always be one of my favourites, it was used as a song at my friend’s funeral. She was an avid Bon Jovi fan, but passed away of ovarian cancer at 27.😢 Will always remember this song!
Amazing performance by the original band.
When the rehearsal sounded as good as studio version 😂, this was how best they were on their prime.
If only I could turn back time.... 😭😭😭

They will never go back to the 80s that ship has sailed and the longer richie has been away the divide deepens the whole jon and richie thing has sadly now gone and that was richie decision to leave even though a bad one so unfortunately we now have to move on and support jon and the other members of the band and it's like most close relationships they come to an end sad but true

Bon Jovi without Richie isn't a Bon Jovi I want to listen to. The charm was Jon and Richie together, not Jon singing adult contemporary songs with "woah-oh-ohs" in every song. This video is it. It's magic.

Sadly THIS version of the band is long gone!! And sadly, there is no chance in hell Jon could ever sound this good again. But then again, it ain't Bon Jovi without Richie!!!

Jon is an amazing person giving back so much to society. Helping others and creating a foundation!!! Wow so good. I wish all of them the very best for future and I appreciate all they have contributed!!!! Can you imagine how hard it is to sing for all those years. From town to town. Having to keep up standards. Alec John Such was a massive part of the band then too. It was Jon's ship but each of the guys added their own personality to the band. Something we may be lacking a bit now. Which is understandable with guys leaving and new members coming in. Lot of responsibility on Jon to keep things going.

@@brettroscoe007Jon also sacked him ;-) Hugh Macdonald isnt classed as part of the band, even though he has played with them almost from the Start (i think he played on Runaway). IIR Jon said he would never officially replace Alec as the BJ bass player.

They were in the glory days then. Hit after hit and a great band who were living the dream. Ritchie showing why he was perfect in that band. I saw them as a support act all the way through to arenas and they were just kids who had the rock world at their feet. Now it's Irv Azoff and success and $$$
