@@lakerfan2874 You just show how little you know. Different types of grenades have different types of explosives inside, and many of them are MUCH less sensitive to water than gunpowder. Some of those options can still be viable even after extended time submerged, and that's assuming that the grenade didn't have a good seal to keep all the water out. Wet ammunition is quite happy to go off if you strike the primer as none of the water has gotten to the powder. You can even fire guns UNDERWATER if you want.

Here’s a rundown on why EOD asked those questions. 1. Sloshing would mean that it was waterlogged or it was a previously live grenade that had splatter inside (splatter is when there’s more push then heat resulting in only part of the explosive detonating happens commonly with c4) 2. Hole in the bottom would mean it’s a training aid or demilitarized. 3. Why he got so scared about hissing is that time fuse almost sounds like a hiss and would mean the grenade is still live. Hope that helps anyone who’s interested!

99% of the time these youtubers who reel in a weapon call 911 and demand the whole pd to come down because of some broken 50 year bolt action that would have rusted away if it was just left there, often waisting police resources for views. this was the first time ive actually seen the cops called in for a good reason
@geesegoose6174

@@overseer_of_memes they definitely don't demand anything 😐 when someone calls in that they pulled in a loaded gun while magnet fishing, that isn't a '1 officer' situation 😐 and if you think it is, you're seriously stupid and there's no wonder how you're not a cop
@grey8288
Ай бұрын
@@overseer_of_memesTechnically they could get in a LOT of legal trouble if they moved potential evidence, even if the weapon was unusable. Calling the non-emergency line is the way to go if they are sure the weapon is inert (unlike this case), but calling the police immediately is necessary if they want to minimize potential legal issues. That's not including the risks to their own safety, as old guns (and many new ones) can pose safety risks when compromised and the magnet fishers can't be sure if it's loaded without risking checking it. In this case, though, there was a potentially hazardous explosive, more than just an old firearm. A specialist was necessary, and cars to prevent people from crossing the bridge while the grenade was safely dealt with or at least moved. If you find a random gun, no matter where, call the non-emergency line. Especially if it's in a dump site like a river, odds are it was dumped there for a reason.

More dangerous, in fact. The fuse is trying to ignite, but all that moisture is keeping it from doing so. That said, the more it tries, the more likely that it goes off, which is that EOD's cue to gear up and pray for rain.
@darkespeon64
10 күн бұрын
Basically take something that's not explosive but flammable and it's wet. you get a portion of it to fully ignite more then half the time the lit portion will eat away at the moist wet portion evaporating the water until it can ignite. This is why forest fires can happen in the rain from lightning. Now take something explosive

@@overseer_of_memes they definitely don't demand anything 😐 when someone calls in that they pulled in a loaded gun while magnet fishing, that isn't a '1 officer' situation 😐 and if you think it is, you're seriously stupid and there's no wonder how you're not a cop
@grey8288

@darkespeon64

@ThePurpleRider no hissing does not mean dummy it means water got under the foil in the fuse cap, causing a failed detonation. So it's a live grenade trying to go off, but water is not allowing it to. So no not a dummy at all.
