Take out sniper positions. lessen effects of air attacks. Close infantry support in urban areas. Pin tanks to submission. Definitely take out a stuart or armored car or even half tracks full of infantry.

There is no need to "house rule" more firepower, you just haven't read the rules properly. The wirbelwind gets 8x shots per turn from its autocannons, not 2. You also call this one of warlords "older kits" but it was only released in mid june 2017 ( 2months ago).

I think Justin called it an "older kit" because it's a resin/metal hybrid instead of the hard plastic that Warlord's been doing lately.

There is no fully plastic kit from WLG; their Wirbelwind is a hybrid plastic/metal/resin kit.

Yes they get the four auto cannons as 2 shots a piece but also the hull MMG. Not only that but unlike the gun on its own this doesn't have the "fixed" rule, since the gun is in the turret. The gun on its own needs an "advance" order to turn and fire if the target is out of its arcs. With this vehicle you don't need to worry about that. The quad cannon is an amazing unit to field in the game and this one should be pretty dam good too. It's even great for taking out light vehicles because you get so many shots with it. Good range too.

@@mike80555 Trying to find an answer and you seem to know your stuff. Does the wirbelwind with its 4 light autocannons throw 4D2 pins at an enemy if every shot hits, or does it only throw 1 D2 pins in one shot no matter how many hits? Please help

They already had 4x20 AA guns, and they just decided to put it on panzer IV :)

They used twin 128mm AA guns on Flakturms - Flaktowers, which were built in larger cities, some of them are still present, such as ones in Vienna, Berlin and Hamburg.

Nice review, some had 50mm frontal armour added since Ausf F & G were converted, 1 prototype converted in May 1944 & 86 converted July to November 1944.

I have a feeling Wirbelwind has the potential to be pretty good, especially against those pesky American players who like running two platoons each with an air observer (who get two airstrikes each per game) but also as just an anti-infantry beast being able to drop 8x 1" templates. Plus they can deal with lighter vehicles pretty decently getting 8x pen+2 shots. All this in a medium tank (albeit open topped).
