Welcome to the seventh video in the Straightforward Tanks series where I show you how to paint WW2 tanks using nothing but an aerosol primer, normal acrylics paints and brush techniques. This time I show you how to paint winter white wash camo using a Warlord Games M18 Hellcat as a subject.

LOVE your vehicle painting tutorials that do not require an airbrush! Thanks!
Looks really good, I'll be using this guide for my Valhallan Imperial Guard vehicles.
Absolutely fantastic! Upvote this guy! With the winter themed battle of the bulge bolt action campain coming out in a months time I'd like to see more snow painting. It might be a good for view counts, hopefully this video will get you more views when that comes out, I'm going to be sharing it. I'd patron for that buddy, thanks for the videos. Thumbs up!
Thanks! This helped a lot. I could not figure out a good whitewash technique but now I have one.
This is great, most tutorials like this require chipping fluid and an airbrush
Hey Pete! This is one of the best tutorials out there, which is saying something considering how good this series is. I’ve used it several times for Soviet tanks! Have you considered doing one for winterized German tanks?
Fantastic finish with very basic techniques. I've never painted a tank (other than the odd 40K vehicle) but want to pick up a kit, just to try your techniques from the video. This might be the time to jump into Konflikt '47 and Bolt Action. :)
great tutorial
Always a pleasure to learn more ways to paint! The end result looks awesome. On a similar topic, do you plan on doing any tutorials for the new Thousand Son models?
Great tutorial
Thanks for this tutorial. Just getting into Dust 1947 and I am finding it hard to get guides for doing something like the Cerberus pattern on Allied models. This should certainly be helpful!
great tutorial, I'd have never thought of painting whitewash backwards. Any chance you could do the early war British 'Caunter' three colour dazzle scheme.
Great easy "backwards" technique for white washing. Cheers!
Nice.
Interesting technique. Counter intuitive but it works.
Have you thought about using that crystal blue (from the headlights) on the periscopes?
Made me want to buy a load of tanks now
Amazing, I first thought you painted it the other way round. , first the green and after the white wash. Do you varnish your models after painting?
This brilliant, how would you use this technique on German AFV ?
Could you do a winter american infantry video
What colours would you suggest changing to, to make this a Late War German whitewash?

For a German tank I would use Soft Tone as your first wash and then sponge over with Desert Yellow. I haven't tried this technique myself so I couldn't be sure how it would look. Alternatively you could follow this tutorial: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eJ6ItZOlj6q9lLQ.html And add some stripes in a zig zag pattern over the top using a white paint.
Hi great totorial can you pls one day make a russian tank painting totroial ?
Could you do a winter camo for German tanks??:)
How do you use army painter quick shades without ruining your brushes. How do you clean them afterwards?

Kevin Gilligan I don't use the paints out of the tins just the clarify I used the dropper bottle versions which I believe are different liquid bases even if they are the same colour. I clean all my brushes after use with masters brush cleaner and conditioner.
What would you do with a German vehicle winter camo?

You could probably do something similar to what I demonstrated here. However you would need to switch out the greens for dark greys instead.
