Don't worry about points discrepancies. No battle in history ever occurred that had even forces. Scenarios and ongoing campaigns are far more interesting!

Well done! Your terrain tutorial and explanation for construction is very inspirational. The battle report was superb. I was thinking that was the luckiest panzerschreck team of the war until its ultimate demise. And I was pulling for Sgt. Kane's Sherman. Sad to see him explode. Your game is proof that points should not matter. Historical battles were seldom even and those make for fun games indeed. Cheers, Paul

That’s great to read Rob and its a good game to play. I’ve always been a historical gamer and at first thought BA was ‘kids’ stuff compared to more ‘sophisticated’ and larger rule sets with endless tables for range, calibre, velocity, angle of deflection and so on. But if you use a bit of imagination to some of the dice results its ok. I recall people saying a Sherman can never knock out a Tiger from the front? Well if you actually read accounts from the war they did. Not by penetrating the front glacis but by banging round after round at them either breaking a track or putting the crew into such a panic that they bailed out! Either way a ‘knocked’ out Tiger. The rules are quick and the drawing of dice rather than ‘I go U go’ is great and was first used by Bruce Rea Taylor back in the early 80’s with ‘command chits’. It’s a great game and can be altered with ‘house rules’ as you’ll notice I dispense with points for these games. Hope you enjoy it.

  • @hazed1009

Love the massed tank type game! Please more, only I think you said tiger was had a "heavy" AT Gun with a +6 when it should have been a super heavy AT gun +7. Its the good old 88mm remember! Still nm , it was a very enjoyable battle showing how the numbers overcame the Tigers heavy armour. (Well apart from that dodgy worn out 88mm in the early Tiger Panzer VI (maybe the barrel was bent hehe) Really enjoyed it, and I'd love to see more. Even better would be a kind of "follow the platoon" through several battles and see how long they can all survive. You could do crews bailing out , there's a set of rules from warlord about bailing crews .

Outstanding! Brilliant video production quality which is concise & to the point. The table/ terrain is absolutely on point & looks fantastic. Your short tutorial in the beginning has inspired me to try some of your techniques which all seem "do-able", even to a novice like me! The minis are beautifully painted & it is obvious how much time & care you put into them, so seeing them on the table being played with is a bonus!! I have read some of the previous comments here & would love to see more tutorials by you but understand that it isn't something you're interested in. All the same, this has been the best BA video I have seen in a long time & I have watched a lot over the past few years. I "Liked & Subscribed" immediately after finishing this video & will now be going through your back catalogue & am looking forward to watching more in the future! A nice bit of Tank Wars -Tigers and a PzIV in a face off with Shermans and fireflies :) One thing to remember when you have massive damage (and there was plenty!) roll the two dice separately as the pins stack and can affect the outcome of any order tests, not that it mattered here!

if I may make a suggestion, I think slightly turning down the exposure on the camera or possibly experimenting with dimming or even colorizing the room lights a tiny bit might yield a more "cinematic" looking footage, if desired, and bring out a bit more color in the models. Because colors are closest to their local saturation at mid-range brightness, higher intensity illumination tends to desaturate the scene, in my experience. I noticed your awesome self-illuminating explosion props - I think those would look even more dramatic in a lower light environment.

Greatly appreciated Konsyjes and I know exactly what you mean about white balance and colour range and depth as years ago I used to photograph weddings, but sadly I film these videos on my iPhone only and my garage is lit by fluorescent ceiling light (I sold all my camera lights years ago) so controlling the lighting is problematic. I have a few apps for WB but the light is always an issue and if I try and lower the light the phone struggles with focus and image quality. I am planning on getting some new standalone lights next year which might help with some directional lighting etc.

Many thanks for the report and my models. I’m no good at tutorial style videos as I forget to record. (tried it with the terrain and it was a disaster) I just use an airbrush and spray using modulation of lighter colours to add fake depth. If you search on You Tube for 1/35 scale tank modellers you’ll find loads of brilliant painters who do great tutorials, which is where I took inspiration from. ‘Night Shift’, ‘jics’ and ‘Herbert Erpaderp’ are all good for tanks and do a lot of 28mm stuff 👍

Hello there. I watch Bolt Action battle reports for some days now and see that there is always a SdKfz 251/1 (possible a 4) as thow for the 8,8 Flak/Pak. But: the 8,8 was to heavy for the 3t Halftrack. So, isn't there a right option (SdKfz. 7) in the army lists?

  • @dazvanderyoung1911

    @dazvanderyoung1911

    15 күн бұрын

Peter you are absolutely right and I only used the model 251’s as I didn’t have a painted model Sdkfz 7 etc. I think most other wargamers are in the same position and use what models they have even though it’s not historically accurate. For the record I have now got a Rubicon models Sdkfz 7 and it will be seen towing the 88 in future games 👍

I use stiff bristles from a plastic sweeping brush. They are quite strong and bendy 👍🏻

Thank you, I'll definitely be using those bristles. It's funny but you really don't see anybody putting those long radio antennas on their wargaming tanks, they'll just use the short fat plastic ones that come with the kit. @@dazvanderyoung1911

These are great battle reports! Concise but still retaining all of the drama and the dice rolls (which I think is important for helping those to learn the game) You probably get asked this all the time, but how do you make those amazing smoke effects?

  • @dazvanderyoung1911

Thank you Grantus it’s appreciated. The smoke effect is epoch/cotton wool stuck around a small battery type ‘tea light’. I then gently spray the base and halfway up with black paint so that when you turn the light on it glows yellow through the blackened cotton wool 👍🏻 Sorry for the delay in replying been really busy with work/family.

Thanks and the mats from Geek Villain and these are the ‘Autumn’ fleece ones as I like the overall look of the green. I need to buy another but they are having printing issues at the moment.

Thank you and I’ve been a Wargamer for over 40 years and used to do WW2 in 20mm back in the 90’s but ended up selling it all. Got back into WW2 and 28mm about 5 years ago 👍🏻
