Dude, it's also about how OTT has changed the landscape of Indian cinema. For example, today, the only films that I am gonna go to the theatre for are the ones that offer me a unique cinematic experience. As for the rest of them, I would rather watch them from the comforts of my home😂

The film 'Laapataa Ladies' is a gem. Nothing more, nothing less; everything was spot on. The film had emotions, comedy, suspense, teachings, good acting, good story and what not. And, being a resident of Chhattisgarh, I have to tell that the audience in Chhattisgarh thoroughly loved it. 💜

Laapataa ladies is an amazing film.. The drama is so understated that the messaging comes across very naturally and does not feel preachy at all.. The performances across the board are so natural you never feel they are acting! The multiplex show where I watched it yesterday was almost full and the audience reactions were sooo positive.. I think this movie might just go on to become one of the year's surprise hits.. Definitely a must watch for all movie lovers.

While India audiences and media keeps ignoring the outsiders, talented women are often overlooked. Financially successful or not, a creatively outstanding movie made by a woman is tend to get less recognition than that of a man. For most Indians, Kiran Rao is just Aamir Khan's second wife, Zoya Akhtar is Farhan Akhtar's sister. No intention to derogate Aamir or Farhan's quality contribution, but let's accept it, many talented women are struggling to get own identity.

Just watched Laapata Ladies on Netflix and then this review. I loved the story, the characters and how the hinterland is not painted with broad brush strokes of 'regression'. It's almost an extension of Panchayat, wish TVF would venture into movie making with actors and stories like this. It also fresh after the staid kind of fare that Hindi language cinema keeps on churning out. There's a kind of old wordly charm and purity in Phool & Deepak's love story within arranged marriage set up, wish we had more.

@@TriedRefusedProductions I was waiting for the DANGE throughout the film and in the end that was not worth the hype. Also, I was surpirsed to how they wasted some talented creators like Aakash Mehta, Danish Sait, and RJ Krishna. They could have done alot with them.

I don't think it's solely the audience's fault. The audience only talks about what they see in the media, how one can find out about any movie/news, if there is no marketing, or very little bit of marketing in the world where everything is just propaganda and chaos, I wasn't even interested in Ambani wedding but my fyp was full of it, it's more like a cycle.

Can't blame the audience all the time. These kinds of movies need promotion as I didn't even know when it came out until the day off. So according to Jammy people are talking about celebrities at weddings, well that event was publicized and given more media attention that people already know about wedding celebration and the month of the wedding months before. Marketing team should concentrate more on these films, but their plan is good word of mouth and eventually film will grow. Today this kind of marketing doesn't work in hindi film industry, its not about films with good word of mouth that works, it's commercial cinema that works when a famous name is attached to it.

Ravi Kishan's final act in "Laapata Ladies" was the best 10min of acting, writing, and direction that I've seen in recent times. Especially that moment when he looms over Bhaskar Jha's character (Pradeep Babu) and says, "Kanoon kehte hain isse"..Glorious!

The audience being the culprit is soo damn true these days. One side they complain about how the producers and directors do not make good films and on the other side when there’s a film which has a totally new concept potrayed, they just label it as “flop” or “wierd” or “not theatre worthy”. Not to take any names but there are many so called big stars who just do the same shit in every movie and the loyal fans go to the theatres and cheer as if there’s something great about the movie. But when a not ao big actor movie releases, they dont even think of giving it a chance. And most Of the times the movies that are ignored now are called as cult favourites later. Only true movie lovers who will admire a good movie or will find some good point in any movie are the ones who watch films like lapaata ladies and dangi. It shouldn’t always be about the actors, it should be about the plot, direction, cinematography, music, vfx as well depending on the theme. I feel so sad seeing great movies called as “didnt do good at box office” just because the hypocritic audience werent open to watching a differently made/thought movie!

Harshvardhan and Ehan were so mesmerizing to watch and Bejoy killed it with the direction and cinematography. Great BGM, GREAT ACTORS each and everyone, just lack of hype. Although the plot was a bit messy the movie all in all was solid specially in terms of the targeted audience of the youth. Sad to see such talented actors not getting the love and appreciation they very well deserve because people are obsessed with nepo babies and sub par actors.

Laapata ladies was the film where in a VERY LONG TIME I was genuinely rooting for the characters and crying happy tears all throughout. Phool slowly getting comfortable with the ideas of daadi, her getting her first salary, Jaya rooting for Deepak’s sister in law, Jaya being so genuinely supported by the police officer, Deepak’s family sending off Jaya to Dehradun, the look on Jaya’s face towards the end are all moments I can never ever forget. This is the exact picture of feminism I want everyone to have. And of course I can never ever forget the innocent, soulful and wholesome love that Deepak and phool has for each other, made me feel single af. It’s now my ultimate comfort movie🥹
