Bolivia's Road of Death - Rita
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
A 2005 Global Village segment about a woman who made her living driving trucks along a notorious mountain road in Bolivia. Note the video breaks up a little near the end. More info about the road: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yungas_...

I appreciate her positive attitude. Not many of us can say that a flat tire is nothing. My respect to this brave woman.
For those who dont research, the Yungas road is closed to all vehicles except for tourists on bicycles. A new by-pass was built several years ago. This video is historical now.

Rita must be a wonderful mother. Inspire of her health, she does this very risky job. May God protect and guide her until retirement and beyond.

Why they don't build safe road, with tunnels and bridges. Just to maintain this road and all accident what happen cost so much money, and also fuel costs to climb this road up...

Why dont they work on making it wider?

@@captainjollyrogersailingso6809 Did you saw how is looks like? You would need so much to work to make it brighter. But to build modern highway would need much drilling into mountain and lot of bridges and think this is too expensive...
I'd be dehydrated cause of all the tears I would cry on this trip. I drove the road to Hana in Maui and I still need therapy.

This was fourteen years ago....weak heart, high blood pressure, extremely dangerous job.....what`s the odds?!
Since there are fatal accidents nearly everyday on this 40 mile stretch of road, presumably when two vehicles are trying to squeeze by each other, then wouldn't it be much safer and make more sense to just designate certain times the road can be used going one way? For example, between the hours of 6 am and 12 noon, only vehicles climbing the mountain are permitted (assuming the climb would take less than 6 hours) and then between 12 noon and 6 pm, only vehicles descending are permitted, and just keep rotating it like that every 6 hours. It would greatly reduce the loss of life.

Isn't coca tea legal in Bolivia but Cocaine illegal i also hear they grow opium poppy in some parts of the Andes because its so hard to police and just as profitable as coca but not as prevalent as Afghanistan,Myanmar(Burma) and Mexico.
Rita has some balls to do that for a living. Respect.
Hats off! Good luck madam
She is a brave woman
I did the mountain bike tour down that road 20 years ago, I saw workers salvaging lumber from a truck that fallen over the edge, it was so far down you could barely see it. A bus had gone over the edge a couple of days later.
Good job bold driver. Much respect from India.

Yeah, I bet every liberal, progressive, millenial feminist who can not live a day without Tumblr, Instagram, safe space or an iPhone can do just like this semi truck lady. As for this lady, I have a fuck ton of respect for her, AND HER only in this discussion.

From what he says @ 05:39 that means there must be thousands of dead bodies in the valley that have collected over the years.
It used to be Exactly the same as the road to my hometown in Mayoyao, Ifugao, Philippines! drivers had to bring their own vulcanizing equipments and digging tools in case of landslide.

My grandma's name was Rita. When she was younger she was in demolition derbys. God bless her may she RIP.
I think Clarkson and co did this road for Top Gear once.. no room for error at all.. Really like the scenery.. Nerves of steel required.. not for the nervous, wimps or newly passed drivers... imagine your first time seeing that.. bloody hell.. I don't suppose they could make it all one way depending on either a m / p m, alternate days or morning and night time?
que valiente esta señora se merese todos los respetos, que coraje, mujer ejemplo para todos por que cualquiera no conduce por esas carreteras ,por algo se dice carretera de la muerte felicidades señora.....
She is AMAZING! 👍 I worry about her heart and high. lood pressure in addition to endangering herself on this deadly route. She should be PAID MUCH MORE!! They are taking advantage of her!!
It looks so scary! I thought driving through Yosemite was scary, but that is no comparison with this. On top of that, she's driving a truck. One tough lady!
mis respetos a ti Rita, saludos desde Nueva Zelanda
She is so amazing women.. God bless her.
this road is no longer used by trucks, the govt has built a bypass...the only traffic on this road these days are bicycle tours.....still people drive off the side...but maybe two or three a year....its a rush....
May God bless her abundantly
Narrow roads but heavy long vehicles running there...This road will automatically reduce casualties once short vehicles are utilised...all the best all the brave drivers..
Fleetwoodray: I believe the Death Road is still open to traffic in 2019. You might want to check your sources. There are people who live along the old road and they still need goods that are delivered by truckers.
Y'all ain't giving credit to that guy warning all the drivers
What an experience!
Salute to you madam Rita!
Very brave and bold.
The reporter forgets to mention that although she gets 50 bucks a day in average during her trips she still has to pay a fitter to travel with her! Thanks for the video!
Damn, I am a CDL driver and Rita has "balls of steel!" Talk about GIRL POWER!
Saludos desde Marueccos , Dios Te bendiga Rita
I don't think this truck has ever used 4th gear.
Wow Dios te bendiga sempre Dios los bendiga a todos ...
