No matter how many times I see it, it still brings tears to my eyes, not to mention the goddamn goosebumps. It came out like a few years or smth before I was born so I watched it when I was around 5-6 years old, still am watching

I'm from Africa & I love Indian movies soo much, I just find them soo beautiful their culture, their films, their people. However, I really recommend you guys to do background research before proceeding to watch the songs. Therefore their songs can make sense for you guys as to why they're acting like that or what lead them to that song. This movie is one of the biggest hits and it's very popular because the overall meaning is about loving your parents and what family really means, it's quite beautiful. Yes the festival is called Karwa chauth. Wives fast from sunrise to moonrise, abstaining from food and drink, to ensure long life and protection for their husbands. My mother always kept this fast for my dad even though he was Dutch and not a Hindu. He appreciated the gesture as it's made with love and devotion. I also keep this fast every year even though my husband isn't Hindu. In Hinduism a woman's prayers are very powerful especially when it comes to casting protection over their loved one's. Inside every woman there exists Shakti which is feminine divinity and pure power.

The last scene is about the mother sensing that the sons are coming back home, because the main song is about how a mother can always sense her son's presence and more...Love this classic movie, one of the best tear jerking bollywood movie.

I cried so hard when I watched the movie.. I’m not Indian I’m ethiopian but I grew up with Bollywood movies and songs. The old movies are better tho. The actresses and actors kept their natural skin Color and didn’t have the need to adapt to white beauty standards I mean look at Kajol! I think she looks beautiful with her brown skin and hazel eyes😃
