The Glass Harp, also known as "musical glasses", is a musical instrument invented in 1741 by Irishman Richard Pockrich.
It consists in a set of stemware glasses tuned by adding a precise amount of water and played by rubbing moistened fingers around the rims.
Wine glass music has evolved ever since, specially with the invention of the glass harmonica (armonica) by Benjamin Franklin.
Robert Tiso is one of the few glass players presently performing. The magical and mesmerizing sound of his wine glass instrument has been appreciated and acclaimed world wide in many different kind of events, shows and festivals.

Boléro is a one-movement orchestral piece by the French composer Maurice Ravel (1875-1937). Originally composed as a ballet commissioned by Russian actress and dancer Ida Rubinstein, the piece, which premiered in 1928, is Ravel's most famous musical composition.

The score from this piece can be seen visually, and very vividly here! Anyone who says that Bolero is monotonous and boring has not experienced the nuance of voices being added iteratively to create an amazing finale
Almost unbelievable. A superb blend of true musicianship and multi-tracking. Wonderful entertainment.
The sound of a glass harp is perfect for bolero.
This gets never old or boring.
6 to 12 soundtracks had to be mixed with expert timings. Truly Awesome!😊
Five Gold Stars: Highest Quality
If I drank that many glasses of bourbon I could play like that too.😀 Seriously this man is an amazing talent.
Best performance since Torvil and Dean! 10s across the board.
I have never liked Bolero and now I know why... because an orchestra can't do it justice. Who knew? it takes a glass harp and a phenomenal talent to properly render it. I felt like I was sitting in a cafe in Istanbul. Bravo!

It's like playing the same instrument over and over again.
Сначала подумал, оркестр. Но когда увидел все партии, понял что исполнитель один, а партии наложены в аудиорелакторе. Замечательно! Браво!
i've never understand how is possible that a simply glass of water make these sounds

Wow, absolutely amazing! What a beautiful sound, brilliantly performed and expertly blended together! I cannot imagine the enormous amount of time and effort it must've taken, of not just the numerous hours of practicing, but performing all the many parts and then putting it all together. Well done and Congratulations on an absolutely fantastic performance! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
The work, detail, and precision required to put together this performance is otherworldly. You are a masterful artist. I hope you felt as much joy creating it as I did listening to it. Bravo
a master of concentration & talent
Just the set up alone was enough to get me to "like" the video. Let alone all the hours of tuning, filming, and editing. Very impressive.
When I first saw this advert, my thoughts were: "Well...I'll give this a view/listen and then enjoy my favorite 'orchestral' version"! WHO NEEDS AN 'ORCHESTRAL' VERSION AFTER EXPERIENCING THIS???!!! I am in awe, man! YOU ROCK RAVEL!

I'll tell you why the orchestral version is better. This is very pretty and all and he is very, very good at this, but he cannot get the different "shades" or tones from the different instruments. That is what this piece was written for. Listen again to the orchestral version and listen for the different instruments. Also, he cannot get it to start out ultra soft and gradually work up to the chaos at the end. Only an orchestra can do this. Other than that, this is as I said, very pretty.

@@christiansaint716 I'm quite well aware of everything you stated and much more. I was simply making a comment on the work, difficulty, quality and performance/presentation. Nothing further was intended!!! A comment to an artist needs no analysis!!!
You are not only amazing because of Your technique, but You are very musical and You deeply understand the music and what it should tell. I just heard You today, but I cannot stop listening all of Your videos. Good job! Thank You!

Спасибо. Это невероятно! Не возможно оторваться.
I like how you handled the “impossible” trombone slide at the end, and shifted focus to the visual gag at the same time. Skillful musicianship *and* performance artistry. A wonderful combination! Of course, the whole piece is amazing. Thank you for sharing your work here.

@@roberttiso yes, a nice faux-glissando indeed on the 1st of the 2 notes but i'm wondering about what kind of effect tilting the glass would have on the note as the water shifts in the glass: would you be able to get a true glissando? &, with practice, would it be controllable? also, would it compromise the timbre of the note to have to pick up a glass to tilt it? i assume this'd mean having to have a coupla duplicate glasses set off to the side for the specific notes one wishes to bend...
Faith in humanity...restored.
Beautiful and amazing how you coordinated all these tracks into one!
Oh my goodness! This is the best interpretation of Bolero EVER!! Like listening for instruments in an orchestra, I find myself looking for the frame carrying each part.
I have listen to countless versions of bolero and from many different orchestras and with great respect and without wanting to offed anyone, I find this work of yours,so out of this world,so amazing! A pair of very skilful hands a few half full glasses and some technology and voila! A big thank you and a very loud BRAVO!!!!!
Iv discovered this amazing guy exist one year ago... And everytime i doubt somthing i come her to see anything is possible...
One of the best interpretations of Ravel's bolero
*Incredible talent!!* To know all of the parts, and play them in perfect timing that the entire "orchestra" performs this song precisely is truly amazing!
All I can hear is the town music from an RPG, but anyone who can play the "Glass Harp" gets my respect.
Just... Wow... This is so clever, and so beautiful. The way you imitate the strings pizzicato, or even the percussion is incredible! Great job!
At first I was mesmerized by the incredible performance and technique of the artist. Then after the initial shock, I grew to appreciate his interpretation and subtle nuancing of Ravel’s score. Finally, I was drawn into the hypnotic view of the performance itself. Wonderful!
Magnificent! An amazing talent and creativity.
I never heard before such beautiful transscription of this, our worldwide highly beloved masterpiece. Everythin seems to be perfect for me, the rhytmic treatment of the glasses, super. Thanks for sharing!
SPECTACULAR.
I remember playing this in concert band. THe piece was awesome.... The glasses made it much more epic. Anyways, how can 4 people dislike it....

Klasse. Pozdrowienia z Polski.
I'm totally mesmerized by the precision and talent the artist needs to deliver such beautiful music. I've always loved "Bolero" and now I can say "I have seen the best"! Thank you for sharing.
Glassic cognac, very clear water and golden fingers. And huge talent ...
Bravo !
I really love the glass harp music...but..oddity..since I've gotten hearing aids, some notes harmonizing within the hearing aids, nearly knock me out..! Tried turning volume down but that doesn't stop the ringing. I still hang in there tho, listening....Wow..!
Gorgeous, I could listen for ages, thank you. Have you performed "Carol of the Bells" yet? If not PLEASE that would be stunning.
I felt my self as hypnotized.
Bravo. Spectacular.
Unbelievable!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
I think Maurice himself would burst out laughing and watch this whole performance with glee! Marvellous! ◡̈
Thank you for performing Ravel's "Bolero." It is my favorite classical piece. My heart sings :)
Such clarity of sound. It resonates right through my head. Better than a glass flute!
Brilliant! And nice to see you! XXX
Während des Konzerts werde ich selbst immer mehr zu Glas. Hammermäßig gespielt!
Genial. Bellísima interpretación.
I can listen to your music forever ! Thank you very much!
awesome, Ravel must be happy in the other world

Verrry clever mate, must have been tricky doing all those takes. LOVED IT.😂
This is awesome in so many tiers... listen to the pizzicato. I wasn't aware you could do this with a glass harp. The deep ranges sound most beautiful, I would like to hear more of them.
Wow! Speechless!
This is my favorite song and Version of all time. I have to hear it everyday
OK - I have a music tear in me eye - within the first couple of bars :) Quite extraordinary.
Maybe that I am only 14 years old but I know how to recognize the talent and you have it!
You are a natural, sir! Great work on orchestrating 39 glasses!
Talent + Passion = amazing artistic expression!
Extraordinary and very very beautiful. Thank you

As a non drummer I've always wondered the same. Probably when playing this piece with orchestra they have headphones on so they dont listen to all the other instruments but only theirs. So thats probably how. The same happens with the pianost at a pit orchestra when they play for a musical or so. They can choose which instrument they want to hear only and the other sound is shut out. Some pianist like to choose the singer. So thats how they do it MAYBE
