Thank God, All Might chose Midoriya. If Mirio got One For All, he would have died long before he could've done anything with it. Considering that OFA has a life draining effect on quirked users, which was sped up with OFA evolving even further in Season 5. They were really fucking lucky that Midoriya grabbed onto All Might's leg that day.

No one ever stops to think about what the knight has to do to save the Princess. Think about what Deku had to do to save Eri. In order to hold her as he did, he was destroying his body over and over again, just so her quirk wouldn't kill him in the process. Not many people could do that.

Right from the very start, before he even knew how to actually _use_ One For All and was basically just exploding his limbs whenever he used it, he refused to give in and soldiered through the pain. And right here, right now, that determination made him accustomed enough to pain, and powering through it, to essentially break every bone in his body and rend his every muscle, constantly, throughout the entire fight. To subject himself to sheer agony the likes of which few can even fathom, that he can't even grow accustomed to and tune out because it's constantly being healed. It's... well, there's a reason we know him as the Absolute Madman.
