📅🆓NEET Rank & College Predictor 2024: infinitylearn.com/neet-rank-p... Rutherford's model of an Atom was undoubtedly a breakthrough in Atomic studies. However, it wasn't completely correct. It needed slight modifications. These were made by a legendary scientist named Neils Bohr. Watch this video to know the postulates put forth by Bohr and the structure of Atoms as suggested by him.

I have a question...for Hydrogen atom ..we know there is only 1s orbital...so when energy is supplied..electron moves to another higher orbital which doesn't exist for hydrogen(i.e.2s)...but we get of the hydrogen spectrum as different lines(Balmer,Paschen etc)...so where does the electron go actually for hydrogen atom when energy is supplied to it?
I will understand the atom. Thanks for the video
nice video and explanation is awesome! muuuuuuuuuuuah! Loved it
Lots of love from Bangladesh!
For those who are also learning the Schrodinger model of the atom, the concept of 'orbitals' is not the same as 'orbits'. The two terms are very similar but refer to different things and are developed from two completely different models.

Sunny Wu what is the difference between orbit and orbital?😊
@henryelicker2403
4 жыл бұрын
@@laralola24 Hi Lara. From what I understand from my old chemistry professor, orbits are certain fixed and defined paths around which a particle travels around. Planets orbit, because they are on fixed, defined paths. Orbitals are for electrons, since if electrons orbited they would lose energy and crash into the nucleus of the atom. To evade that constraint, it was thought that electrons behaved as waves, rather, and orbit parts of ana tom in probable electron densities, or where you are likely to find the electron 90 percent of the time. So, based on energy levels, these shapes of electron densities are where the electrons are likely to be. That's probably the shortest explanation, if you take physical chemistry, it gets way crazier. Cheers!

@@henryelicker2403 Why was it thought that the electrons would crash into the nucleus? Is it because of the extremely small size of an atom? Is there an amount of energy that would be the limit for an electron to crash into the nucleus?
