I Solid the cutoff several months later but in the time I had it nothing happened to the part that was primed and painted, the texture was a little bit rough but from the oxidation aspect it was just fine, I guess it’s more relevant several years later. The I beam I have in the house is ok looking :) I might have to shoot an update vide about it, just need to buy a ladder tall enough haha haha

How could this be done indoors to structural non removable beams??

I would find a paint you can apply on top of the rust and mill scale and not worry about cleaning the beam

@@PolymathPete I was going to do that with rusty metal primer and Rust-Oleum oil paint until I saw you awesome work I don't want mill scales in the finish the uniform look you have is ideal

Maybe you can get the same with multiple layers of paint maybe 2 or 3 if you sand in between, not sure how “invasive” your renovation can be maybe hand sanding would be sufficient and would control the dust levels to a minimum.

@@PolymathPete that's genius! thank you so much and it can be mildly invasive so I will do that instead of exploring messy wet grinding options +1

this is not necessary, maybe if there was rust or pre existing coatings, and particle blasting would be a way better way to go in that case, a strong epoxy, oil, or elastomeric based paint will stick to light rust and raw steel surface, i would say a polished surface is probably making it even harder for paint to adhere, unless you need a perfect finished look this is senseless
