They are from the outside because of the two Allison turboshaft engines used to drive the pump jets on the rear foils. But from the inside it sounds more like a passenger jet...and because it's a hydrofoil, the ride is just as smooth at full speed.

The Boeing Military Patrol Hydrofoils (converted from this vessel) on their maiden voyages, despite design and production changes would develop a small crack on their forward bulkhead (not the civilian version). The crack was welded, with no reoccurrence. ;-) I was able to sit in the Captains seat aboard one (on shore). ;-)

Almost makes you think that future we all dreamt about in 65 had arrived. Hydro to the Shuttle Port then to International Space Station 4 to Lunar Base Armstrong then to the international Mars Colony. Then to the Astoroid mines. Preparing to explore the Jovian moons next.

Between Dover and Ostend, search for "Jetfoil Oostende". The RMT (Regie voor Maritiem Transport) used 2 Boeing 929 jetfoils, the Princesse Clementine and Prinses Stephanie from 1981 till 1997 (see Wikipedia). The Clementine is still (2017) active as the "Seven Island Niji.". Flying with these jetfoils was sensational, especially the lift-off. If you were used to slow cumbersome ferries where you would see the harbour and still have time to take breakfast and tour the ship for pictures before docking this was quite a different experience, you were in Dover before you realised it. This ship had to brake pedal-to-the-floor or it would miss Dover and end up in Folkestone..

+tega banega Less because the hydrofoils do not respond very quickly to a wave hitting it. May be bouncy, but not "jarring" like a wave hitting a hull in the water, especially if the catamaran is lightweight
