Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human. First, she is a dramatic contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in seven billion.

Diana Ankudinova is in my view the world's best singer right now. She has an enormous power and quality to her voice in addition to range. Those three factors, the quality especially, make her outstanding (not mention her confidence and stage presence). She's a dramatic contralto. Extremely rare. What makes her voice unique and not only rare are her overtone qualities. They changed the song from major to minor key which gave her voice even more impact. She's called the queen of goosebumps in Russia, but I call her the Goddess of Goosebumps in Germany. Intersting to see people listening to her first time, now, when she's fully aged. Her first world class performances were Rechenka and Derniere Danse at 14y old.(you might add yodel time at 13). Another newcomer to Diana, that's always fun! The most common reaction is "the voice doesn't fit the face", and that's sometimes right. As a dramatic contralto she's super comfortable in the lower registers. What surprised her fans is how much she's been working on her higher notes here, they are just superb. This rendition was the Tommee Profitt dark version which Diana absolutely nailed. Diana Ankudinova is a true contralto, a dramatic contralto to be more specific. So it is no surprise her version of this song sounds way more dramatic. And the Russians love those dramatic and partially also more melancholic songs. But not only the Russians do, especially when Diana is singing. I for myself for example have heard and watched this performance of hers roughly 50 times now but I still get goosebumps all over my body every time I hear it. Diana has a very unique voice, partially very deep but as you have seen in this performance she also can go pretty high. But it's not that alone. Diana sings often parts of her songs with a polyphonic undertone which makes it sound like two people are singing at the same time. That gives her performances even more depth. On top of that she excels in different vocal techniques like yodeling for example and she uses those techniques where she sees it fit in her performances, making them even more powerful and outstanding. But - and I cannot stress this enough - the most important part is that Diana always lives her songs. Right before she starts to sing she immerses herself on a very deep level to the meaning and emotional place she has created and/or found within herself for this particular song. And during her performance she lets those emotions all out. They become visible in the way she sings but also in her facial and bodily expressions and how she acts during her performance. And exactly this combination resonates strongly with her audience and mesmerizes it so thoroughly that the audience is left it in shock and awe for quite some time even after she finishes her performance. There aren't many people capable of doing that. Diana is really a rare gem.

Shes naturally a contralto shes had to work hard to reach those high notes. You should listen to her earlier performances like Blizzard Wicked game and Deneire Dance and into the skies. This was designed to be her opening salvo in a peer judged competion at 18 her first as an adult.

Diana took this song that has always typically been sung in a major key and rearranged it into a minor key. That's what gives it that weird feeling you were talking about. But the tone of her voice adds a tremendous amount to that feeling. At only 18 years old, Diana is a tremendously exceptional performer. Any genre that she sings, she kills it. njoyed your take on her....the background is as extraordinary as the performer. At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment. Only two years later she started singing in local theater, and in street plays and performances. And soon after was entered in a Russian TV music competition for disadvantaged children. By the age of 10 she was winning local competitions, singing on live TV shows, and her songs started showing up on KZread. Two months ago, at the age of 18, her first performance during a new Russian television competition with several other renowned performers, has gone viral and has garnered hundreds of KZread 'reaction' videos, and millions of viewers. Her first song at the competition, an entirely new take on Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling in Love with You' has been called mesmerizing, transcendental and other-worldly...it highlights her uniquely deep voice, and effortless range from low to high, along with her trademark dramatic and passionate interpretation. Diana Ankudinova sings mostly in Russian, English and French. She has also sung in other languages including Spanish, German and Arabic... This is a cover of a cover. Diana sig more dark that the original cover of Tommee Profitt feat. Brook (2017) in D minor (the Elvis version is in D major), using more overtones in low tone (yes, she is a rare dark contralto, now 18 y.o.). Thanks.
