Bodycam Shows Chaos Unfold on 'Rust' Movie Set After Horrific Shooting

Ойын-сауық

Bodycam footage was shown to jurors Thursday showing chaos unfolding after Alec Baldwin fired a fatal round that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Police reported that the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez, was experiencing a panic attack after the horrifying incident. Gutierrez is on trial for involuntary manslaughter and faces up to 18 months in prison.

There really isn't one person in charge on a film...after a fashion the director, Joel Souza, is in charge, moreso than the roles Baldwin filled (producer, co-writer). And Baldwin probably wasn't the person making the choices of who filled what role on the crew. Those decisions are usually collaborative ones on a film production, and they are often made more by who is available during the days you are shooting. You're also constrained by budget. It's not so much a matter of being "cheap", as working within the budget on a small film. Usually, everything has to be "cheap". You have a lot of people working in roles who are "green", non-union and working for experience. It's the nature of the beast and consistent across the industry, not as you frame it here, an aspect of Baldwin's character.

the shabby state of the "cart'. everything is accessible to anyone, look at the guy who went and pulled it over, no one secured that scene early enough. I always assumed that the cart that held the guns/ammo was like a Hospital cart that they keep the drugs in - LOCKED/ SECURE, only accessible to the one person with the key. This looks like a cleaners cart with stuff thrown on top of it. Allegedly the prop manager who was employed by the ammo supplier, called her boss, and then proceeded to throw away evidence. FACT. The police were never able to recover that evidence. She emptied the guns and tossed the ammo that was contained in them. That is seriously tampering with evidence. No one will ever know if the evidence that she disposed of was relevant to what happened that day.

Everyone has the right to call their lawyer. No one there was detained yet, they had no right to “confiscate” their personal belongings. They aren’t children in school, they’re adults who caused, witnessed and experienced an incident and acted after accordingly. They hadn’t air lifted her out because in order to do so, she needed to be in STABLE condition and she was not, she would die trying to get her on the helicopter so they stabilize first to ensure you even make the ride over. Way less room on the helicopter to assist if she flatlines in the air. Hence her being there so long, it was going to take as long as it took to get a stable pulse.

Any weapons owner is trained to assume every weapon is loaded and treat it as such until inspected. Never point towards anyone until inspected. This is common sense. This death was avoidable from what documentation online shows. Texts from cast members stating it was unsafe and dangerous. Very tragic neglect incident. Resulted in a death and injury.

I wouldn't trust her to run a taco stand. She comes across, on first impression, as unprofessional, sloppy, immature, maybe has some problems with hygiene, and doesn't appear too bright. She looks bored in court, but that may be because of her immaturity and she's just not that sharp. Her demeanor is off-putting and disrespectful. Baldwin and the other execs should be held accountable with time behind bars. A woman was killed because of their recklessness.

Her age is irrelevant. By age 12 both my brother and I were competent, safe shooters of both handguns and long guns. You don't have to be an expert to know the very basic rules of gun safety. 1) NEVER point a gun at anyone or anything you do not want to shoot. 2) ALWAYS assume the gun is loaded with live rounds. When the gun is in YOUR hands, YOU are responsible for whatever happens. 3 people handled it in the moments before the tragic shooting, every one of them were negligent and could have prevented the death of Ms Hutchinson. Has those very basic rules, (that every responsible gun owner/handler knows), been followed, no one would have been hurt and they would not have had 3 negligent discharges on set. It was an absolute disaster in terms of unsafe handling & criminal negligence by MANY people.

There should be paperwork with people signing off on proper handling skills and ways to mitigate the hazards. According to someone who works in the business, actors are not allowed to check guns, as they might change the sequence of rounds put into the gun by the armorer. The armorer is responsible for the safety of the gun put into the actor's hand. It is then the job of the actor to point the gun wherever the director says.
