Bodelwyddan Castle Break April 2022

Hi Everybody
In this video we take you on a tour round Bodelwyddan Castle where we stayed from 11th to 15th April this year.
No motorcycles in this one but join us as we wonder round the grounds through the hotel reception and dining area as well as show you the room we stayed in. We also get the opportunity to have a tour round the ground floor of the castle, the upper floors are out of bounds at the moment as they require some maintenance performing on them. Just to note, I didn’t get a great deal of footage from the castle as it was very dark in places and with the lights I was getting a lot of blurring so had to cut a lot out. The guide showing us the castle was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history, I can definitely recommend the tour.
The gardens and grounds were great to walk round and just chill. As it was only April the flowers (except the daffodils) were not blooming yet but in summer I’m sure the colours would be fantastic.
Hope you enjoy the tour as much as we enjoyed staying there. Thanks for watching. See you in the next one.

The area is where I grew up, from age of 7-8. At that time the castle was a private boarding school for girls and they used to host lovely Christmas parties for local schools, sending out invitations to a number of small country schools and we would all be gathered together there on the given day. The hospitality with which we were treated was marvelous, sheperded around in small groups of 2-3,under the care of a couple of the teenage girls, given a wonderful party tea, then played games in the main hall, (a fabulous space) with an enormous Christmas tree with presents piled up beneath it,a gift for every child present. Then a visit from Father Christmas, who sat beneath it and called out the name of every child in turn, and spoke a few words to everyone as he handed out there named packages. It was a massive experience, I came from a very poor family, and I've never forgotten it. Then later, when I left school at age 15,my first job was working in the kitchen, where I also met for the first time, the man who became my second husband years later.

Thankyou for your video. I last visited here with my nephew in 2009. The Castle rooms then had furniture in them. Also huge paintings on the walls. From what I can remember there seemed more things to look at in the rooms. Not just empty rooms. Did the tour guide happen to say why everywhere was empty. There were more things for children to interact with also. I planned on bringing my Great nephews this year as they really want to go inside a real Castle. Thanks to "The Traitors" on TV. Thank you again for sharing your tour around. Hope you enjoyed your stay.

Thank you. My wife and I visited many years ago and at that time you could have a tour round the whole house/castle but it was run by another company/council and it was very good. This time as far as I can remember some of the rooms were in urgent need of attention and weren’t safe. I believe that they (Warners) have now taken over the house/castle and have requested permission to do changes and were just waiting for the go ahead. I think they have plans to use some of the rooms as guest accommodation so I’d say watch this space. We did have a good time there and will go back. Thanks for your comments.

I recently discovered that I am a direct descendent of William Williams who acquired the castle in the late 1600’s. We will be making a family trip to the castle sometime in 2024.
