When Bobby was in SF, I had the joy of knowing and performing with him. Once when he was doing a gig with me I asked him what were we were going to do and he told me, "Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter." We did the gig and he would start something and we would follow him. As best we could. We improvised the whole night. One night when we were hanging out at a club in North Beach, Cadell Place, he would mimic the sounds he heard in the club. Glasses clinking, people laughing, everything. He's something.

In March of 1991 I worked an event held at the New York City Armory- helped raise $ 1,000,000.oo for AIDS / DIFFA fund raiser. This one time dinner event for 10,000 people. I was so proud to have been a chef volunteer involved with the menu, the cooking, presentation, the service, the people.... Bobby McFerrin was a headliner along with so many others helping with the cause for AIDS research. Amazing time. Life memory.

WOW! I was young when he was doing his thing... I didn't get it... Thank God for the internet and the ability to learn! This is one of the most inspiring stories I have ever had the pleasure and honor to hear and see.

Isn't this man a gift to the world! Amen! I fully understand why he has to do this, orders from God. Ha! Lifting this soul to his full height. And I believe that Herbie Hancock and Bobby McFerrin are kindred spirits. Two handsome brothers, full of scrumptious mischief.

The physical and philosophical facts concerning the power of music are as terrifying as the number of people that I've had to explain that this is not Bob Marley.

There was such a backlash against him for Don't Worry Be Happy - not because it wasn't good, but because you simply couldn't escape it for years. I always thought people were so unfair to him, they didn't see what a genius he is.

You can't use the voice as a music instrument. you can use Bobby's body as a music instrument.
