This man influenced me and my mates humour in the 70's and 80's, none of us would meet in the pub come Saturday night until after their show. We used all his one liners and sayings, 'you stupid bird' , 'leave it, leave it' , and of course 'Rock on' . I am really sad tonight, I loved the man. Ans I have lovely memories of my late Mum and Dad crying with laughter as they sat together watching the show. There will never be another Bobby Ball. RIP.

As I understand it, Bobby passed away only very recently, and judging by the comments here and on other sites, he will be sorely missed by fans the world over. I have only recently found Cannon & Ball here on KZread, and I have never laughed so much for a long time while watching Bobby and Tommy. I am from Australia, but I love watching the old British comedians, and this duo were one of the best. R.I.P Bobby, and ‘Rock On’, wherever you are.

As a kid growing up in the 80s, Bobby made me cry with laughter. His timing, his looks at the camera, and threats to the audience.....were simply hysterical. More than once did I cry with laughter....and it was sad news hearing that he passed. They simply do not make them like him anymore...and the world we live in today is all the worse for that.

Found out before 10:30 this morning that Bobby Ball had passed away after being diagnosed with COVID-19. I remember going to see Cannon and Ball at the North Pier Theatre in Blackpool back in the summer of 2015. This wasn't the first time I'd been to see them: The first time I went to see them was back in 2009 at the Futurist Theatre in Scarborough. Three years later, I saw them again at the same theatre. Anyway, I went to see them for a third time in 2015. The show was great as always and Cannon and Ball were really funny. After the show, I met Bobby at the stage door and the first words he said to me were, "Alright, pal! How are yer?" I'll never forget that moment. Then, in the summer of 2016 or 2017, I saw them perform again at a nightclub in Blackpool called Viva Blackpool. Interestingly, Bobby Ball's sons, who work as a double act, also performed that night. But the highlight of the show was Cannon and Ball's performance. They not only did some of their best routines, but they told some really funny stories about their lives in showbusines, which they'd told when I'd previously been to see them, but I still enjoyed hearing those stories. Every time I went to see them, they always sang a song to close the show called, "Through The Years" and they modified the lyrics a bit to make it about their friendship. It's a song that really sums them up. Another song that sums them up well is their signature tune, "Together, We'll Be OK", which is also a great song. Some of my favourite Cannon and Ball routines are The Trumpet, The Ping-Pong Table and The Ballad Of Molly Malone, routines which they performed time and time again and never fail to make me laugh. In all this reminiscing, I've forgotten something really important: After the show at the Viva Blackpool, I got the chance to meet them backstage. This time, I met both of them and I even had my picture taken with them. I also went to see them in Wakefield back in 2017 when they performed in Bobby Ball's stage play The Dressing Room. I didn't get to meet them that night, though. The last time I saw them perform was back in 2019 at The Forum Theatre in Northallerton. I only met Tommy that night, because Bobby had to drive back home to Lytham St. Anne's. So, in total, I've seen them perform five times. Tommy was a good straight man, but Bobby was a great comedy performer and not only that, but he was just as funny off-stage as he was on-stage. He was also a great comedy actor, as demonstrated in Not Going Out with Lee Mack. This is a sad day for me. He and Tommy were one of my favourite comedy double acts, but he was also a great performer in his own right and it's such a shame that this terrible COVID-19 thing has taken him away before his time. He was only 76 years old. Anyway, I'll still have my memories of him and I also have my Cannon and Ball DVD's, which I'll be watching in tribute to him.

Billy it was a wonderful story and lovely memories , billy on TV now I can't recall, remember anything regarding entertainment etc, maybe Lee Mack, its just everyone wants to be offended, ordinary girls like say "pans people, Benny hill, tommy cooper,Leonard Rossiter, rising damp etc they wouldn't be shown, and these artists had tread the boards and done there graft, and entertained people, imagine all those entertainers through music halls, early TV and radio" and clubland,,they entertained ,kept spirits up,you switched off your worries, nice to read your stories billy, and god Bless, RIP Bobby Ball, love and peace

Even now - I still feel the pain of loss when I think of Bobby. My mother absolutely adored him. She had a similar personality to Bobby and had the same sense of humour. There is a generation that is sadly dying now and that generation had a fantastic sense of humour that sadly - the snowflakes of today - do not appreciate. I find that sense of humour to be the best. The same generation had to grow up in war torn Britain. They saw a lot of destruction and damage when they were children. So they chose to laugh at everything to remove the sting. It is a unique sense of humour that is sadly dying off now. Today's humour is just offensive sarcasm - with no imagination needed. Bobby Ball and Tommy Cannon were a warm friendly act. Truly genius in their own right. I still miss Bobby. I hope he is up there with God and having a good laugh. God bless ya Bobby and rest in peace.
