Hervé Villechaize Been using it everyday with a Myki card which is a standard credit card sized one and it has never felt like it would fall out.

Escaped Escaped It was a Thule messenger sling from memory. It was more of a little zip stash pocket than a card holder but I thought it could be used for it.

is the bobby backpack also good for school? Or is it to small to carry schoolbooks around?

Daniil Churikov I don't think it would be suitable as you can't really carry that much in it. I recently took a trip and had to use another backpack as this one wasn't suitable as a carry on for a multi day trip. It's really a work or school bag for one day if you only carry a laptop, tablet and lunch and maybe an umbrella - that sort of thing. It sits really well on the bag when full or mostly empty which is nice. You can pack it really full and it still sits well on the back but the issue is you can't carry a lot even when full.

Ha, I came here to learn about the Bobby, and I have the Thule that you videoed. Two years now, and looks near new with everyday use... crazy strong material. I think I'll pass on Bobby, but I do like the USB plugs :)

The Mark Ryder backpack is a bobby backpack and it is if not a better price than that one, it also has many more compartments, i super recommend it!

The mark Ryden is a rip off of the design for sure and under $100 but doesn’t have the anti theft features such as the slash proof layer. They claim anti theft only because of the hidden zipper. The USB port is also on the outside of the back and looks ugly IMHO. The bobby design is better.

I dont understand this whole charge pack thing. Non Apple people have the advantage that we can carry a comparitivly much smaller and lighter thing called a 'fully chaged spare battery'. Bam. I seriously dont get why people buy Apple when there are alternatives, light years ahead on features, configurability, specifications and much lower price. Nice bag. I like the anti-theft, anti-cut, waterproof, padded and storage compartments. Very well thought out design. I would however like a waist strap to shift weight and comfort whilst at convensions or on a packed train and zippers added to the strap/ card compartments, to limit loss of commuter cards. Nice review. Thank you.

so, a 15inch laptop would fit in there or not?

I've got a question, do you have to press your power bank for it to charge? Or just plug in and will open itself when an external device connects?

My power bank starts to charge the device as soon as I plug into it and it works the same when it’s plugged in to the USB extender in the bag.

Can it fit several books?

I just watched this and this a really great review..the only thing that gives me a second though is it rains here in the philippiness and i need to use my umbrella. I can take it out but when im done ofcourse its well, i dont wanna put it inside the bag if its wet. I think i gotta figure it out first before i buy this bag.

Donna Pobar That is a valid concern. The bag stand up OK to light rain but I doubt the interior will fair so well given its a nylon interior sitting above thin foam. I would want to let water get anywhere near the inside of the bag.

You should check out the cocoon organizers for your cables and you can slide that into your laptop slot or maybe your tablet one if you have a small one

That's comparing apples to oranges, a full-purpose backpack VS a anti-theft bag. I was previously using a NF Bandwith and now have a PacSafe. I chose the pac with the limitations in mind.

Marcus Holbrook yes in the sense that it is fully contained in padded material and stops short of the bottom of the actual bag. Not a solid bottom but protects it from contacting the ground when you put the bag down.

The surface pro would fit in the laptop part easily. The binder would fit but I think probably stretch the edges a bit. It's the width at the top inside which would be an issue.

Hey - don't know if you knew this already, but there are two additional zip pockets inside the main compartment that you didn't mention. One on each side, I think they hold the plastic protective sheets, but you could use those to store additional items to stop things floating about? :)

Rasmus Raarup not sure but I think it will be pretty tight. It fits a MacBook OK. It’s 10.63 inches or 27cm’s wide if that helps.

It will get dirty and while the fabric on the sides would hold up well I think the darker coloured area would show scuffs and dirt. I think you might be better off with a more canvas style backpack. A darker canvas would hold up better and show the dirt less.

Where did you buy it from? which website? I know that there are a lot of knockoff products already .. I really want the original one.

Jessica Helmi I was lucky to purchase it form a real store, not online. In Australia we can get it from a store called Culture Kings, either in store or from their online store (I didn’t get it from Culture Kings but have seen them on display. I understand there are a lot of fakes on sale so be careful. I’d advise buying from somewhere legit like amazon or paying via paypal so you can get a refund if it’s fake.

is it big enough to turn this bag into travel bag for a weeks traveling? when you open it flat it feels so big and a have alot of big spaces for maybe 2 travel compression bag with clothes in it... but when you open it not flat in the beginning of the videos it just feel so cramped or it just some kind of eye illusion?

Laurensius Tony It’s definitely cramped in there. I don’t think it would be possible to use this for anything more than an everyday carry to work. I have taken it travelling but always with another bag for clothes etc. It’s just too cramped inside for anything other than a days worth of things.

It carries enough load. I believe in a backpack aimed to be anti-theft, it ia actually good. If you need more than these items everyday, u better consider buying a truck

yes but I wouldn't use this as DSLR bag. The camera would sit on the bottom and get crunched by anything else you put in. I would use it with a smaller point and shoot but advise a different bag if you want to carry a DSLR.

Luis Diaz I don't think it would carry enough for a student actually. You can easily carry a laptop plus tablet but if you want to also try to carry textbooks then you'd be pushing it to fit them. This really is a bag designed for style and someone who doesn't carry a lot of stuff.

Great review, first thing in noticed is indeed, all pockets are open and a bit lame padded. They need better securing for items. PS the bobby isnt for easy access, its ani theft ;) Like the bobby compact as well, but i guess wont take macbook pro 15"

I can’t believe they went smaller with the Bobby compact! It’s already a. Struggle to add things above and beyond basic daily carry and the Bobby compact is smaller. Maybe it’s targeted at girls? I think with the pastel selection of colours that may be the case. This Bobby hits it’s limit at a 15 inch and feel s a lot better with a 13 inch laptop.

Where did you get it from? I'm thinking of buying this from culture kings online. It's the only Aussie seller I found that I trust to be legit. I will use it for work, Taekwondo, as well as travelling. I'm also a concept artist and need my laptop and Wacom if I go anywhere. I assume it's best for that kind of thing. Not so much lots of clothes etc. So no water bottle holder, even inside?

Arien Van Stralen Yes I’d go with Culture Kings as you can be guaranteed it won’t be a fake. A friend just bought the black one from there and it’s a real one (actually quite nice in all black). Yes laptop and Wacom fine and maybe a jumper, not many clothes. There’s no external water bottle holder but you can fit a smaller sized bottle in one of the inner padded pockets.

Do you ever used this bag under the rain without umbrella? Thanks.

Yes I've had it out in light to moderate rain and it did well. The material is quite water resistant. The strap insides and the back padding absorbs a bit but as it's against your back it's quite protected.

Yes absolutely. It's cut proof, it does leave a mark of you try with a knife but doesn't go through the fabric

it's more suited to 13 inch. A smaller 15 fit but it was stretching the sides of the laptop slot.

I believe it is waterproof but you probably can’t fit over 3-5 inches worth of book (thickness) inside without having some issues closing I don’t own one but have been researching it as I am considering

I usually put my keys in the small zip pocket at the base of the straps. There’s one each side and they are a little hidden but still accessible

Gean Avanzado Yes but it doesn’t offer a lot of protection so you would need to put the camera in another pack or bag. I wouldn’t recommend it as a camera bag as there’s a lot fo other options that would be better suited. Some of the Thule packs or even the everyday backpack or the wanted Prvke would be better.

I’d agree it’s more of a day pack. You might be able to squeeze one change of clothes in it but there’s no way I’d be using it for travel for more than one night.

Real one’s are still around the $100 mark but there’s a lot of fakes out there and I’ve seen them range from $20 to about $50. The fakes tend to be a bit lower quality and I wouldn’t trust the anti cutting layer on them either. You can usually spot a fake as the USB charging port is in a weird spot on the back or side and doesn’t look right with the design of the bag. Also they tend to be floppier and sag at the bag which leads me to think they don’t have the anti slash layer the real bobby does. Funny thing is I see lots of people walking around with NBN branded fake bags which cracks me up as over here NBN is spending/wasting millions of dollars trying to deliver fast internet (and failing :)) and yet they can’t even spring for a real bag for their staff.
