Commenting BEFORE I watch the trailer: As a Jamaican, I hope the filmmakers have not overlook this one key understanding -- Bob Marley had an incredibly inspired AND inspirational life, from the very beginning, and against all odds: Born to an Afro-Jamaican mother & an English father, his dad disappeared from his life early on. Bob was always attracted to music, and was singing in a band before he adopted the philosophy of Rastafarianism. But the religion then changed his life, outlook, and gave him a burning sense of destiny. Bob was our Malcom X -- only, he f0ught his revolut!on through music. The lyrics of "Africa Unite" & "Redemption Song" hold deep meaning for us Caribbeans -- and many more nationalities around the world. He was a thought-leader, and urged peace in Jamaica in a turbulent time, even reaching out to literally pull two opposing political leaders' hands together for a symbolic handshake while onstage. Again, if the filmmakers focus only on the ups and downs of his family life, or fixate on his mar*juana use, they'll have missed the point. I have heard they have done their research -- let's hope it pans out for the best. One love, truly. 🙏🏽 🖤💚💛🇯🇲

I agree anxiously nervous about his authentic portrayal of Bob Marley. He’s too clean cut. He’s Kingsley Ben’adir wearing a wig.. I wish they would have selected someone of Jamaican descent for this role. It would have been more authentic and less distracting. I’m sure he’ll do a great job of “acting”like Bob Marley but the goal is to be as authentic as Jamie Foxx was with Ray Charles.

I'm not a reggae fan, like some Bad Brains and Augustus Pablo...but it's just how we all listen to Bob, no matter what music we're into...That's his magic and I can think of no one, even Lennon and Mercury or Armstrong and Brown who still appeal to Goths, Metal heads, Pop, alternative, Rock, Blues, Jazz....Funk ..... So this Hollywood film will not be able to get anyone closer, let's just hope it doesn't turn off anyone....I don't trust movies anymore...

His message was a protest against injustice , a comfort to the oppressed . He sang there, he performed there, his message reached there and everywhere… He was born in a humble cottage , nine miles from Alexandria, in the parish of St. Ann. He lived in the western section of Kingston as a boy, where he joined in the struggle of the ghetto. Bob Marley learned the message of survival in his boyhood days in Kingston’s west end. But it was his raw talent, unswerving discipline and sheer perseverance , that transported him from another victim of the ghetto, to the top ranking superstar of the entertainment field in the third world. Jamaica was always a part of his international work. His work is now over and he returns to his home. Visionary that he was, he foresaw this, as he hurriedly flew back to his homeland when he realised his work was over, death meeting him on the way. He immortalised these words in his own creation: “Fly away home to Zion, fly away home. One bright morning when my work is over, I will fly away home.” May his soul find contentment in the achievements of his life and rejoice in the embrace of Jah Rasta. Remembrance Edward Seaga Prime Minister of Jamaica 21st May, 1981.
