Bob Dylan - Tight Connection To My Heart (Last Ever, Supperclub 1993)

This is the last ever performance of this song live, and it was the 14th time ever played total. And what a farewell performance it was..

@@marmite2500 The last I checked Cohen was ranked # 25 on Rankers list of greatest poets of all time and that dates back to BC. King David is on that list😊. Dylan was #69. I like to think I'm Dylan's biggest fan but so many feel that way. Cohen certainly is one of the greatest poets. Love them both....Lloyd :)

I still remember so vividly the first time I heard this song on cassette and how the lyrics blew me away, how clearly I could see the movie, the characters, the regret and the longing trying to be disguised as a nonchalant flip off. “You want to talk to me? Go ahead and talk. Whatever you got to say to me, it won’t come as any shock.” Damn. That line is as familiar as any great movie quote to me. “Be easy baby there ain’t nothing worth stealing in here“. Fuck. I thought I couldn’t wring any more emotion out of this song. And then....The Supperclub performance. I can’t remember how many attempts I made to listen to it all the way through without breaking down in real tears. Even now 05:04 and THAT harmonica. Awww man here I go again! Thank you Bob. Just...thank you.

That's because many of the lyrics are movie quotes. The Superior song was the basis for this called "Someone's got a hold of my heart" a 1983 infidels outtake. Listen to the podcast 'Sign on the window' episode 60 for more info.

Yep I once saw a list that showed the movies where Bob had borrowed lines from. The majority of this song was on there! A real amalgamation of film noir flicks he was watching in the 80s

The shows were professionally filmed for a TV show or some other type of release. That's why there were 4 of them to pull the best versions. I was lucky enough to see 1. Multiple rotating cameras & so fourth. A DVD is what they should release!

My hands are sweaty and we didn't start yet I ll go along with the charade till I can find my way out Some day maybe I ll remember to forget. You go inside and stay warm Has anybody see my love ? Has anybody seen my love ? You want to talk to me, go ahead and talk Whatever you have to tell me it won't come as any shock I must be guilty of something in a town without pity where the waters run down in Jerusalem ?. There is nothing to steal be easy.No moon Just a singer singing Memphis in June. Later he ll be shot for resisting arrest. I never could drink that wine and call it blood. I never could learn to hold you my love and call you mine. You got a tight connection to my heart. Tight connection to my heart.

I was 17 years old in '85 and it was a very bad year to be a Bob Dylan fan. Before a worldwide viewing audience of billions, and supported by two stoned 'Stones', Ron & Keef, Dylan gave a Live Aid performance of sucb unrehearsed ineptitude that I could only watch through the fingers of my hands. Dylan also trapped himself in the cold, tinny, synth drum production nightmare of his studio album 'Empire Burlesque'. Aa a painfully 'current' attempt to reach the MTV generation, it is Dylan's most dated album. The tremendous potential of 'TCTMH', a story song Dylan spent a long time on, was thrown away in a muddy sounding, overwrought and bombastic damp squib which has one of Dylan's least convincing or emotionally true vocals. If you want to know the full scale of what was lost, this final (to date) live version shows it in spades. Here is thar hot blooded singer we know and this song needs!

I am waiting the full Supper club shows as one of the next BS, they have to release this gems, so vital, so fresh and intense... I mean, they gave us the overbootlegged "Judas! RHA" and Halloween 1964 and we bought them again... Why not an official version of these wonderful shows?

Can you message or email me about sending the show as well? It's important that I have it, because this recording is the best thing I have heard in the last three days. camelsandfriends@gmail.com

Never did learn to drink that blood and call it wine. Never could learn to hold your love and call it mine. Bob ain't talking about chicks. Talkin' 'bout The Jokerman. Anything to clear me up about.. please do. I don't research. It's all out my ass. Loved this band. Bob taught them. THEN HE DID BETTER with the next "guys". So many sections to this greatest American life. Never had one job.. that he got paid for.. that wasn't music. Or was he bagging groceries at 14? Don't think he was. Thanks, Bob. For knowing to do things like the Supper Club to go get everybody better at it. The band leader wears the striped pants.
