Not appearing was Joni Mitchell. She had done a bit of digging about Carter & found that he had allegedly a history of violence against women. He was re-tried for the bar-room job & re-convicted. Nevertheless, Dylan's performance of the song "Hurricane" on his Desire album was superb, as was his performance of the song at the John Hammond Tribute show: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qKN8k5Oxhpene6w.html

sorry, seems you've got some fake stories. Actually Joni Mitchell did her set with a total of 4 songs just before Ali entered the stage and Joni was part of the all stars performance at the end of show jonimitchell.com/chronology/detail.cfm?id=1425

@@neverendingbobfan Thanks for the correction. It seemed plausible but I always appreciate the truth. The commenter did say that he/she appreciated the performance regardless, as do I.

Joan Baez blocked Mitchell from introducing Ali with the N-word as ("one jive ass N-word".) Joni was stupid enough to still be bitching about Baez for refusing to let Mitchell use that intro - 10 years after the concert. Imagine cancel culture with Joni if she'd try that nowadays. Of course Mitchell thinks of herself as a black man so she feels she has the authority to call both Ali and Carter " jive a ass N words." SMH

@@taddyd1 Dylan himself used the "N word" in the song "Hurricane". Good enough for Bob, good enough for Joni!
