.... this is a jewel from every angle.... the song, originally, is simply a Classic, hearing Bob' (always) different version is thrilling, then, the presentation (with the lyrics so prominent) is Truly (both) inspired And inspiring; This is Exactly why i feel confident that We (post-WW II generation) were witness-to, and (utterly) affected-by, the creation of a body-of-work (comparable to Shakespeare) which will be discussed, interpreted and foerver Deeply meaningful.... for centuries..... if ever anyone wanted to question the move of the Nobel-people, in awarding Bob Dylan a prize for literature, they needn't look Any further than this one tune ..... "..false-hearted Judges/ dyin in the webs that spin/ only a matter of time till Night comes slippin in... "... c'mon, who dafuk Else writes shit like that ?... peace...

Not unlikely, since it's Bob lyrics after 1978/79. It could also be a very famous person like himself, selling millions of records, touring the whole world giving concerts, worshipped by crowds etc. and a stranger when he comes home (to his family after months on the road)

The lyrics and the whole style of this masterpiece slightly reminds me of Nos Sobran Los Motivos, by Spaniard Joaquín Sabina. And both songs have an original version and (at least) an alternate take. When I first listened to this version, I thought "Ok, fair, good enough changes so far", and I was sure that the lines where it says "Nightsticks, water cannons..." would remain untouched because those must be the best elaborated lines of the whole song. But when it got to "...can't drown out your sermon" instead of "behind every curtain" I felt absolutely overwhelmed. The double change of lyrics and rhythm (with a different amount of syllables because a silence from the original version is cut here) is an example of an outstanding level of poetry. Something that a Nobel Prize winner can do, while the ignorant masses who criticized the award can't even understand those powerful messages coming from the contents and from the forms.

Nice that you credited Larry Sloman and George Lois. I believe they won the 1983? MTV Best Video Award.

I like the halted delivery and different lyrics. Still l like the original. But this is good. He's just beyond anyone in music.
