Some of the stuff is just childish though. Take the last couple of minutes of this footage for example; they barge into him, probably at the airport where he’s most likely tired and not at his best because of the cabin pressure etc, then start asking him a lot of silly questions that don’t mean anything … he must be thinking, “What the heck do you expect me to say; wtf are you even talking about?”

Bob is wise enough not to answer questions designed for the interviewers benefit. He knows it really doesn't matter because people believe what they want to believe.

When a painting or sculpture is viewed in a museum you don't get to ask the painter what he was thinking or how he feels about it. I think Dylan sees his music like that.

well put. even more true of writing than non-lit arts. the writer said it the first time in what they judged the best way to say what they felt needed saying ... incl ambivalences & ambiguities where desirable. some can of corn who hasn't listened or can't hear who then asks what the writer to tell him what the works said is just plain braindead bozo lame imo.

well actually they do. I am a painter and people are always asking me, what were you thinking when you made this? what is this painting about? I tell them it's subjective, and they tell me they see all these things in the painting I never even thought of, but just say, that's the beauty of art. I rarely tell them anything about what I was think, because you really can't. I might tell them how I made it, the process, the media, etc. I think painters get this more, because songs have lyrics and people have some sense of what it might mean, whereas painting is all visual vocabulary.

William Alford I had a book of Dylan’s lyrics translated into Spanish. A friend of mine met a guy who claimed to know Dylan and my friend asked him if he’d ask Dylan to sign the book. He said he would. A few weeks later the book was returned in the mail with a signature purporting to be Dylan’s. I never believed it was Dylan’s signature. Then, few years ago, I saw a video on KZread of a fan getting Dylan’s signature on an album. The fan showed the signature to the camera. I wanted to compare the signature to the one in my book. But when I went to look for the book I couldn’t find it. The End. Ha! Ha!

My generations reluctant hero. People wouldn't stay off him. The bastards showed up at his house with his children sleeping in their beds, looking for answers he didn't have. Some of my friends wanted to go on a road trip to find him, they ended up escaping the Moonies. I was a sensible hippie, you don't go busting in on people, especially people with no privacy to begin with. He probably really understands how Princess Diana felt. Love you Bobby, peace brother.

Yeah, he had hippie climbing on his roof while he was trying to sleep. He talked to a lawyer and asked what he could do. The lawyer said if they fall off and hurt themselves, you could be sued. He felt overwhelmed and violated. And the hippies would come in and raid his icebox too, of course. He had to move out of his own house before he shot someone just to get peace of mind. Then when he moved to NYC, they waited outside his building and yelled stuff up at his windows, so his neighbors got mad at him for moving in.

It's not that it's torturous, but there are hardships that come with fame. That's not to say that it's not worth the trade off, but just because it's nice to be famous doesn't mean there aren't things that are difficult about it. It's nice to be beautiful. but it comes with problems. It's nice to be rich but that comes with problems. That something is good overall doesn't mean there isn't a downside. People don't lose the right to have problems because one area of life treats them well.

"The moment we're born, we're old enough to die" Loved the answer to why he doesn't go on the internet "Some pervert might lure me away" So funny! I could of seen him perform in the 70's for free. He did the Michigan State Fair. It was getting dark and my car was parked in a sketchy area. Totally regret not staying to see him. You could sit right at the edge of the stage! Finally did see him and the Band in Ann Arbor, MI.(11/6/2019) Says he plays to the back row, thought someone was playing harp along with him next to me. Guess it's the unique acoustics of Hill auditorium. Absolutely, positively one of my favorite people!

I think the truly miraculous thing about Dylan is the fact he didn't let the mindless masses squash him. I am so glad he was the voice of my adolescence he gave me refuge and hope. I remember seeing the interview with the journo who actually said 'I haven''t listended to your music'' ! When Dylan asked ''then why are you interviewing me'' journo replied ''because it's my job'' WTF 90 percent of a journos job is research. Dylan helped keep it real and pull them in to face themselves - and still does. There is serious depth and courage in that. Got to me thinking - who do we have like that now? Anybody?

'do you think you're music has changed since the 60's?' 'do you think you've changed since the 60's?' 'do you think your audience has changed since the 60's?' ... no shit it had been over 10 years, how terrible would it be if artists' music didn't change after a decade? of course the audience changed and of course he'd changed - 10 years had passed!

Bob is so cool because he's still alive and kicking. Most of the popular folk singers and rockstars died (see age 27 Joplin, Hendrix, Cobain) but Dylan is still living.

My take on this is that Bob never wanted to be put on a pedestal and found the whole scene absurd, much in the same way The Beatles did. He makes music. People can listen if they want to, or ignore him if they want to. It's easy to see why he and George Harrison became friends from this common perspective.

This is great ..... a man fully aware that the God like status thrust upon him was undeserved. A poet? ..... definitely ...... but a prophet? ..... hardly. All Dylan did was describe exactly what he saw in front of his face. Which goes to show how blind the rest of us are.

Everytime I hear that woman- "you know him, he's yours" I get creeped out- Great footage- It really shows that Dylan has been consistent in his refusal to be what the "image" that developed was and his trying to push back against it. Bob is always "being born" and that IS his art.

He's openly said on numerous occasions that he didn't write the music to pass a message on. The songs were simply happenings. It's on the individual listening to hear a message. So you've absolutely misunderstood Dylan as a person.

He has said he didn't write music to influence people or give out some message. He writes music about what he is thinking at the time. I love how John Lennon explains it to the hippie....He even refers to Dylan.

Some people are a decade ahead of the times. Some people are 20 years ahead. Some are 50 years ahead. Some, like Dylan, are at least a century ahead. He's STILL ahead of the times. Perhaps 40 years from now in 2060, people will get it.

Dylan learned early on to not get trapped by loaded, steering questions. Some people tried to shape Dylan into something that would support their cause. I remember seeing Dylan on stage in concert with, among others, Pete Seeger. It seemed that Seeger was visibly disappointed at Dylan not chanting some cause or protest.

Bob Dylan is inspiring to many people because he left his home and ventured to New York to do what he loved. He tripped into fame whether he liked it or not. He accepted this fate, so is it just a terrible thing for him to also want to be a person and continue his life? He became who he wanted to be, against the media and the booing crowds. Love Bob for the man he is, or stop watching these videos. Good lord.
