Similar to the Haulover Inlet, the Passe du Boucarot in Capbreton, France, is famous for its heavy shore breaks and some extraordinary waves.
Off the coast of Capbreton is a deep and large canyon due to the movements of large tectonic plates between France and Spain. The sea floor rises quite fast towards the coast, which explains why the waves can be so traitorous at the inlet entrance. Given specific movements of the entering and retiring tides, along with strong currents due to the canyon, and accentuated by large surf coming to shore, the inlet can become quite risky.

That is why they went out.
Dragging people through the mouth of the inlet with water toys in front of an approaching boat is idiotic.
I just can't believe how these people take their lives at risk in conditions like that. It's so crazy and inconceivable.
Nice laying back in my lounge chair watching all this in the comfort of my home . Lol

Americans paying millions of dollars to brave some chop in huge speedboats under the watchful eye of police, rescue, towboats, while the French just enjoy a nice day out during a summer storm in their dinghies 🤪 vive la France!
Why would anyone even want to go out and boat on a day like this? Looks absolutely miserable

good luck traversing a narrow marina exit against the wind with sails . even with the wind from behind it would be sketchy as hell
I can see coming in ,but not going out in that.
Why doesnt the city or state invest in a break water?

The only boat I would take out in this kind of weather would be a hatteras trawler yacht.

Idiots and Boats, Semper Paratus!!! Gotta Have Something To Do!!!!
Why even attempt to go out in conditions like these. Over cast waves 4-6ft. I live in Philadelphia so we go the the Nj,DE,MD shores all withing a 2 hour drive. And we definitely have some nasty inlets like the Barnaget inlet,Townsend inlet just to name a few. These waters just dont look attractive.
