    That video is awesome. I’ve always found the thought of fiberglassing anything to be very intimidating! And then I saw this! Beautiful for first time. Looking forward to seeing more.

    Thank you so much for that we really appreciate it. Fiberglassing for us has always been very intimidating. But the great thing about it is, if you mess up, you can always find a way to fix it. We’re not pros by any means but we’re getting better. And so can anyone with just practice! I tell you what, it beats paying thousands for someone to do it for you 🤣. Thanks for watching! 🤙

    Great video! The only thing I would have done different is when you made the cuts into the original deck I would have left a 3 inch tab so when you lay your new core and glassed over it you could tie the new glass into the existing glass of the hull usual recommendation is 2 1/2 to 3 inches. Basically you want to grind back about 2 in- 3in of the gelcoat around the cut then lay your glass over that area so it ties everything together. Some guys will take a 3-4 in mat strip and lay over the cut line so it ties the repair the existing glass, but in order to do so you have to grind back the gelcoat on the older glass so it bonds correctly. This ensures that there is no movement. Regardless its a solid repair and wont give you any trouble. just something to think about when you do the windshield area.s

    @@perfectfitboating I keep coming back and watching again! great job taking the extra time to make the hatch and recessed hinges! Couple questions! What thickness is the Kay Cell Coring you used? 1/2? Is there any deflection walking on the front area? Any regrets with that material?

    Hey bud! It’s 1/2” k cell and I love it. Super easy to work with. Won’t rot. Light weight. It’s amazing! When you laminate it, there’s zero flex. None! If you can afford to go with composite vs wood I definitely recommend this. If you have any more questions just shoot us an email! 🤙

    Another amazing video 👏 I truly love how you both roll up your sleeves, work as a team, and work on your own boat. It's not fun, but you get to learn from it and know that it was done properly because it was completely by you guys. It's the true meaning of #builtnotbought beats paying the prices of the new boats now and days. Love your videos, keep them coming!!! 🔥🔥🔥

    I don’t get why Grady white a “high end” boat manufacturer uses plywood

  • @perfectfitboating

    @perfectfitboating

    3 ай бұрын

    Well back when this boat was made (85’) that was the industry standard. But, they still use them in their boats today and I don’t understand why they won’t switch to composite. Even Parker switched to composite. I mean the newer ones are amazing boats but they’re susceptible to rot because of the wood. I also rebuilt our boat with wood but that was because I didn’t have the means to afford composite at the time. If you encapsulate it right, it’ll last forever but even then, people are going to drill holes and mount equipment and that’s where the issues start. 🤙

    @@perfectfitboatingagree. But on your end of course it’s more cost effective but Grady white msrp has always been priced out of range and still used wood. IMO that should bring the prices down not up

  • @perfectfitboating

    @brianpino7274 I agree. They’re priced through the roof. I think the 33 express was 579k at the boat show. Even the older early 2000s models are still over 100k 😳
