Yes, definitely a negotiable price from what I understand. It's true what you say about local boats though. A much smaller runabout with a 50HP engine can go for over $10,000 so if somebody had the right skills they could end up with a nice boat at the end of it.

I agree, markets are a lot different around the world. Here (FIN EU) that wreck (but repairable) could be worth from 5-10k€. People like to fix very old boats even just for fun and this one is not even a bad case. Fiberglass and aluminium hulls are fixable, ABS-plastic not so easily.

Hey there Stew. Great vid. When I found the lower engine mount bolts were corroded on my 200 Opti, I replaced them with 316 stainless. Still trying to figure out what Mercury were thinking when they used plain old steel bolts for that job.

I feel the same way about the steering yoke. I figure it is either cost or some of the characteristics of stainless under certain stresses.
Stu, the bottom cowl will come off with three or so bolts in from the sides, (one under a plastic plug) making it easier to get to the underside of the motor. Give that a try for the steering linkages.

@@DangarMarine Definitely unique, it reminds me of a real-life steel "Tubby The Tugboat", an old children's novel from the 60's (or Tuggy??.. Think I'm misremembering the name) I remember us years ago seeing Renko the first time going "well that's a cute boat!" Tuggy/Tubby immediately came to mind. Would be funny if that's actually what it was based on. Synopsis was "Over the years, Tubby the Tugboat has gotten used to spending his days forgotten in Backwater Bay. But that's changing. One way or another, Tubby is about to become useful once again-and that's why he and his friends are worried. Is Tubby on his way to the scrap yard? Or is there still a place in the world for an undersized tugboat like Tubby?"

It should be on sale for $1. Right now it is a worthless piece of scrap. It might have the potential to be worth $4000 once it is fixed, but now worth nothing. Renko same thing. It was a floating piece of rust. The owner would have had to pay to have it scrapped. But he sold it for way more than it was worth. Only Leo at Sampson Boat company did the right thing in paying $1 for his boat. He has paid 100s of thousands to fix it up now. Once done maybe worth $1million.
