"You and Mrs Thompson were good to me" is a great line It shows that Richard genuinely doesn't kill for business like any of the other characters. The hits he made for Jimmy may seem like careless murder, but Jimmy was kind to Richard, so to him its more about duty to those who have earned his loyalty. Plus, Richard isn't stupid, and he knows that the people he's killing are gangsters. Soldiers of a different kind. This is one of my favorite Richard moments. "Jimmy was a soldier. He fought, he lost" is a beautiful line summing up how Richard understood how things worked. I think the reason he's the most universally liked character on the show is because while being a cold and calculated killing machine, he has sound morals and a sympathetic disposition. He wasn't a criminal because of greed or power, he was a victim of circumstance and it was the only place he fit in for awhile.

Great scene with wonderful dialogue and characters BUT vey illogical : 1 how did Richard get in Nukys complex so easily Thompson would never have this lax security 2. The fact that Richard killed Nukys business partner should have been addressed. Thompson is a man who would not let something that big slide so easily. 3. You would think that Thompson would offer Richard a job, considering he knows how valuable and dangerous Richard is.

Harrow’s comment about Jimmy being a soldier harks back to Hyman Roth’s comments in Godfather II about the death of Moe Greene. He didn’t ask who’d ordered the hit, because “This is the business we have chosen.” Of course, Roth treats it as a business issue, whereas for Harrow, it’s the life of a man who wound up on the wrong side.

I love this scene due to Richard being able to accept that no matter how much he cared about Jimmy, he knows that Jimmy was in the game and suffered the consequences of his own actions. Meanwhile Angela was innocent and not in the game and was someone who he had formed a genuinely strong and close bond with, and to find out she got killed because of something that had nothing to do with her, he couldn’t let that slide
