I'm from Cape town. And I've had more Gatsby's that I can count. We usually have it with a long 30+ cm roll loaded with soft chips sauce and your choice of various proteins. Polony, Vienna, sausage, chicken or probably the most popular. Masala steak. So great to see our culture being spread all over the world. Awe to all my south Africans watching.

On a tangential note, as an avid board gamer over the past 20 years, I've been delighted to see the proliferation of board game cafes here in southern Ontario Canada over the past 10 or 15 years in response to the success of Snakes 'n' Lattes in Toronto. :)

neat little food spot that’s got a nice theme going on, board games and good food is always a great combo!

We travel to Cheltenham every few months to see family, after watching the video my 9 year old has asked if we can give the challenge a go. I had to sit her down and explain our family of 4 didn't stand a chance and that you had a magical stomach that can stretch to the size of a large dog. Awsome effort as always Adam.

So glad to hear you credit Cape Town with the Gatsby. Although our Gatsby’s are made with one really big ‘sub’ and the chips fill the bread, it’s not on top. We never have cheese sauce but our Gatsby’s come in a variety of options, one where cheese can be included. Come visit us and eat one here. 😉

As a schoolboy in Worcester, South Africa, I went to boarding school until 1994. We would slip out at night to buy Gatsbies at a seedy pool hall and fish and chips joint called Stardust. This place was in the non-white Muslim part of town where we weren't supposed to go as young white schoolboys at the time. People need to understand that the Gatsby had its origin during apartheid. It was takeout food for the poor "Coloured" community (Coloured being what mixed-race South Africans call themselves). So, this is a sandwich with history. It's not simply another sandwich.

Had 'khao lam" at a festival in sukhothai and had about 5hr drive back upto chiang mai the next day. Normally a fantastic snack (sticky rice in bamboo) but this one got me. Gras as grass and run out of trollies on way back so cammando driving. Plus ring of fire!!

Salad's are the worst as no cooking gets rid of any bacteria. If you go to India avoid salad and ice in the drinks if not at a better hotel etc.
