My favorite part of his game is his ability to avoid the sack while simultaneously never taking his eyes off the downfield area. He doesn’t panic and look at the rush, he doesn’t give up on the play early and take off running, he is a smooth operator in the pocket with top tier footwork and pocket awareness. One of the most important things to have for nfl qbs and one of the main reasons otherwise talented QBs don’t end up working out in the league. He has every single tool necessary to be a pro bowl caliber qb and he is going into the best situation of any of the QBs. Tailor fit with Sean Payton.

Great breakdown of my personal favorite QB for my Broncos. Draft him at 12 and dont listen to the people saying it was too high. Its only too high of he doesnt work out and even then, what % of QBs that get drafted do actually work out, even 1st rounders?

50%...that's the success hit rate for first round QBs. Sean Payton has already said he will NOT draft a first round QB unless he "falls in love" with him. He has also stated multiple times what characteristics he looks for, chief among them being a very fast processor & a guy who can get the ball out quickly. He's also said that probably only 2 of the 6 guys getting all the buzz as possible first round guys will make it. We know one of those he admires is Williams. Who is the other one? Whoever it is, if he's not able to get that guy, expect him to take a non-quarterback in the first round.

That INT against Washington was because he lost the defender in the sea of Wah jerseys when the kid was basically standing a foot or so OOB. If you watch when Bo decided to throw that ball that kid, frkm Bo's perspective, looked like one of the guys just standing on the SL. Had the Ducks been in that sideline I dont think that INT happens.

@EastCoastGridiron np. I am in oregon. I go to games. I dvr their games. I am an ex coach and frequently rewatch and break down his play. Mel Kiper and other Mock draft guys have this so wrong but you nailed it. I am hoping Denver nails it to and he ends up there. Keep up the good work. This mis reading of his abilities could be a blessing in disguise for Bo.

@matthewprimbs6107 excellent comment, I agree with you. Bo could be the next qb in this draft and also Sam Hartman, these guys get disrespected, and in my opinion sure the most pro ready

While I don't love him as much I as Cj or Bryce last year I do think he's a lot closer to those guys than other quarterbacks the last few years.

I also think Bo does need to improve his footwork while throwing. He does throw too many unnecessarily off of his back foot. He still completes them, but with NFL tweaking of his footwork those passes will be even better at the next level. Sorry dor ao many comments, I am big fan of this kid.

If you go back and look at the interception, the defender was out of bounds before Nix threw the ball, came back in bounds to intercept. Questionable if it was Nixs fault.

Take this as a year by year analysis, the thing that I wish he would do more is take more runs in the end zone off play. He has the mobility. They would have put more points on the board. That’s part of decision making

I think that your arm talent and athleticism grades were pretty accurate. I believe that your decision-making grade was a bit low. I think that this is probably his best attribute, being better than the vast majority of other CFB QBs.

I really really like him. I've fully come around on him. To me he's a mid to early first round pick. He is my 2nd favorite quarterback and as far as comps I think he's more athletic version of Derek Carr

I've done a bit of film study on Bo Nix. I don't care as much on stats as I value what I'm seeing on film. One area that is ALWAYS left out of these QB stats is 'brain talent' . I would take a Tom Brady brain over a Jay Cutler arm or Lamar Jackson's legs any day of the week. Especially with todays watered down defensive backfields that have made 'prevent' a defensive back staple. I'm not big on Bo Nix or Williams. What the film showed me is that Nix doesn't go through his reads near enough for my liking. He predetermines way too many of his targets, and bails from clean pockets ala Russell Wilson. Big problem is that Nix is going to the Denver Broncos who has NO difference makers on the team. The Broncos O-line is highly overrated, and is not near consistent in either the pass or running game. The front office will override Sean Payton, and will have Nix play a 4-5 wideout system with just a sprinkle of Sean Payton's system mixed in. The Broncos under NO circumstance is built to be a 'greatest show on turf' air raid system the Broncos front office will want Payton to run like they did in the last three games with Jerad Stinham.

Too low on decision making. Only 3 INT all year and was first in the class of lowest turnover worthy plays.

Oh this is hilarious 😂😅😂 You must know more than all 5 of the NFL teams that drafted a QB before Nix. Why aren't you a GM?

Bo Nix may not even be QB 5, let alone #1. In fact, in 2022, a QB with almost an exact match to him in virtually every way, from his physical profile, playing context & production, was taken #68 in round three. I'm talking about Hendon Hooker, who QB'd the Tennessee Vols to the best offense in the country in 2023 & had them ranked in the top 10 in both yardage and points in 2021. In fact,, Hooker had a vastly better TD to INT ratio & a far higher QB Rating while doing it in the SEC instead of against weaker PAC 12 defenses. Unlike Nix, who was pretty average at Auburn, Hookker not only terrorized SEC defenses (he hung 52 on Alabama) but his first three years at Virginia Tech were better than anything Nix did at Auburn in his first three. Nix had a comp% below 60% at Auburn. It took a massive 18 point leap at Oregon. Hooker on the other hand, had no such accuracy issues his first three years at VA Tech. He was better...across the board. The point here is not whether Hooker or Nix is better however. We wont' know that for years. The point is, they are so closely grouped in talent, production and their statistical profiles that it is nearly impossible to tell them apart in a full breakdown if their names are not used in the discussion. Both won two state championships in high school and were ranked near the top of their prospective recruiting classes as dual threat QBs. Both play in very similar offenses & with comparable results. You can't even separate these two guys by their size, speed or even their hand size. Hooker is an inch taller, they weigh the same & both have hands over 10". Their scouting reports read like carbon copies. They even both averaged 4.0 ypc on the ground, Nix with over 400 rushes & Hooker with over 500. It would be tough to find two NFL QB draft prospects that resemble each other more. Here's the key point; Why would the NFL consider Bo Nix a top pick in this draft...or even a guy in the first round...when they only thought of Hooker as the 68th pick? There may have been a little drop for him based on an ACL that slowed his rookie year to the last 7 games of the year, but that's not enough to account for a full 2 round difference when talking about a QUARTERBACK. A 3rd round QB is a developmental guy, not a franchise pick you think is going to start year one or even somebody you necessarily think will ever start. Nix is being pumped up for fancy stats in a high octane spread offense, but the media pundits need to ask themselves how the NFL GMs see this guy. Is he really a 1st round pick or just a guy who needed to play 5 seasons & get himself into an offense where he was behind a top 3 OL & surrounded by NFL talent at the skill positions? That is the critical question. Hendon Hooker is a good place to start asking that question.

Hendon hooked never played for auburn and beat Alabama for starters… comparing the 2 is incredibly disjointed. I don’t see them even remotely playing the same. Bo running a spread offense and Hendon playing in a Josh huepel modified pro style offense is where their similarities die. My qb evaluations have been pretty spot on, so I’ll continue to stick with my formula.

@@EastCoastGridiron I said nothing about Hendon Hooker playing for Auburn. He played for Tennessee & beat Alabama 52-49 on a last second drive. Josh Huepel does not run a "modified pro style offense". He runs a version of the spread with about a dozen plays & designs them to be mixed into an up tempo approach. There is comparatively little difference between what he does & what Oregon does, at least from the standpoint of how the NFL looks at it. Stick with whatever you want to, why do I care?

Hendon Hooker doesn’t have near the footwork of Bo Nix. As a playmaker, Hooker doesn’t extend to throw, he’s a scrambler. Nix always keeps his head downfield. At 25, Hooker wasn’t nearly this polished a prospect on top of a torn ACL. 68th is a good spot for him even if he does become a steal
