    This music feels like seeing a once-loved one again for the first time in years. It’s all so familiar, but so much has changed, you can’t quite be sure if it’s really the same person or not. It’s somewhere between comforting and painful, and you know it doesn’t have to mean so much, but it does, it does. They look happier. Until they don’t. You’re don’t know if you’re allowed to enjoy it. At least, that’s how it made me feel the first time I listened to it. I think it’s beautiful.

    It’s interesting how this is sort of like a weird mirror of the original pale machine. The lower-energy tracks are now higher energy, the prettier songs are now more intense, and the high energy tracks are now slower and more melancholic. Makes for a quite intriguing listening experience and a great companion + tribute to the original, while still offering a completely new experience using the old melodies..

    What I really like is I can hear that bo en's producing&mixing skill has improved so much. It feels something like reuniting with cousin in a very long time and you find out they've grown into proud and independent individual

  • @s1lkwyrm205
    @s1lkwyrm2057 ай бұрын

    The improvement in the mixing is INSANE but I also love how bo en's preserved/reinterpreted some of the rawness of the original album, especially with "I Hate Winter", "Paler, Still Paler" and "Our Time". I love how miserable the delivery is in the second - its a moody tone but there's such an exhaustion in his voice. Its like the loneliness of the narrator in Pale Machine has worn him down over the years - the story hasn't changed, neither has the hunger for intimacy, but he's spent all of his energy screaming into the void with no response. Gorgeous song and gorgeous sequel

    I really like this album. compared to the 1st one, this feels more upbeat and joyful. It's like years later, life finally got better and it was worth the wait. You are more positive and instead of faking emotions, you accept and still carry on. You are at your best. Bad memories still get to you, but you block them with positivity. You don't feel alone anymore and you have more confidence than you ever did. It's like a reward for going through all the negativity.

    Y'know that feeling where it feels like your skin is crawling, or where it feels like you about to cry and your heart is about to escape your entire body. I felt that the whole way through. I was and still am a huge fan of pale machine. This sequel felt as if you picked up a juice box, but didn't read the label and just guessed it was apple juice. Then, BAM, hits you with a whole ton of flavor. You see it's fruit punch, and even though you now know its fruit punch, it still tastes good as heck. bo en you're honestly amazing. Really. I will very much be keeping this in my playlist with a bunch of random videos, but I hope that when I shuffle it, this album will show up and I'll have the excitement of a 8 year old when I hear it.

    i need to take a moment to just express how much bo en and pale machine have meant to me. growing up, pale machine 1 was everything to me and helped me through a LOT of hard times. It was silly, it was emotional, it made me feel things that no other song could make me feel. seeing My Time explode in popularity thanks to omori recently made me so happy, because bo deserved the spotlight!!! i thought for a long time that bo would just focus on video game soundtracks, and wouldn't really come back to producing his own albums, which was still cool anyway and i was very happy he was doing something he enjoyed! then i saw the 10 year tour stuff start coming around, which included 2 of some other favorite artists of mine and im very excited to see the show!! i was so excited to see bo coming into the scene again. and now, 10 years later, a remastered version of an album that shaped me. i have no words except thank you so much bo, i definitely sound like a suck up rn but i'm so unbelievably happy haha. from the bottom of the heart of a random guy on the internet, much love

    I didn't know how to embrace them, and i didn't know how to be honest, but i didn't know how to say goodbye, so they left me, and i don't know how to fall in love again. pale machine 1 was my shit in 2014. thank you Bo En for making an album for us lonely fucks who came into adolescence damaged, who needed to hear "you're gonna be okay," who needed to cry about it, who would love and lose over and over because of our own screwups or because the people we loved were screwed up too, or because of the screwed up state of the world we live in, and because of the big deep hole we carry around inside, the ways we push away sincerity and connection because it's scary or imperfect and we don't know how to be honest about how we feel. those kids not sure if we're gonna make it. thank you for following up that album with a set of dancefloor remixes of the same words, the same feelings, those same patterns, but now for us in our 20s, adults who indeed wish we could forget the rent, who did love and lose and meet and fight and make up and sometimes lose all over again. those of us who still don't know if everything's gonna be okay, living alone, feeling alone, still not sure where to go, and stranded feeling like they can't get there without love from a lost someone with whom things will never work out. it was simpler then, listening to pale machine 1, even as we were more dishonest, trapped, immature and insecure. we couldn't foresee incompatibility, only chemistry, couldn't know the burn of things going up in flames time and again, the rippling pain of losing someone slow you fought hard to keep but even by your own admission not hard enough. back then heartbreak was just a fantasy. we hadn't failed others and ourselves, been failed by others, been rejected over and over, watched promising connections be smashed against the struggle to survive and the desperate lack of time in grown-up society for spending together. us, who know we need to stick our necks back out and try, try, try again, but finding it hard to feel anything other than alienated. so thank you for reminding us of the kaleidoscope of life, the beauty of melody and harmony and the undeniable urge to dance. rhythms from around the world, demanding our attention and curiosity. something else beautiful and unexpected yet familiar enough to let in and accept as a gift, skipping past the paranoia that would call everything from the outside poison. thank you for being patient with stubborn loneliness, for coming back for those of us who have grown and changed but still not enough to count ourselves fixed, those of us doing our best but still making the same mistakes. are you like me, to sing the ways i feel? i can't be sure. but like you say, it's gonna be okay. we're gonna be okay. i'll fall in love again. i don't know how yet, but i will. a thousand Thank Yous to you, bo en, and ten thousand wishes for your peace and happiness.

    Pale machine 2: Electric Boogaloo?! It is interesting how you took the parts that made the original PM and did it again with years of new inspiration and life to boast! By the most technical of terms this should be called a remix, as you mixed the songs again - with new things of course - but I dont know... I also don't really care because the music is very fun!

    Already posted about this on “Paler, Still Paler” but my interpretation of this album (in relation to the original “Pale Machine” album) is that it’s essentially like you’ve tried to reinvent yourself, start anew to escape the pain, but then it slowly creeps back into your life until it eventually breaks you and sends you into madness. The first handful of songs here are super joyful and upbeat, then “(We Are) Friends” feels bittersweet, and “I Hate Winter” and “Paler, Still Paler” are much more melancholy. “Our time” is chaos and insanity. (The last two songs feel kinda separate imo) And yeah, like a lot of others have said, many of these songs feel very different to their original counterparts while still retaining a sort of similar energy, it’s interesting
