I once worked security at the 12th and Imperial station. I was able to observe that yard from the parking garage. That yard is very busy during the overnight. Not many trains during the day but once the passenger traffic shuts down that yard gets busy with trains in and out

4 clear tracks at the end of the switch......thanks for the video..... San Diego Yard needs some work and a total rehabilitation.... For one thing,...it needs to be larger. It is too tight for trains that sometime come in with 70 plus cars on the Daygo. Building a train in the evening takes some work, and the crossing is not what you want at the top of the yard....especially around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Large trains or Daygo's + racks that come in usually need to double over at least three times...The crews do a very good job of shuffling, but the time, and the curvature in the middle of the yard in one big PIA. We had a nice level yard up in K Falls when I switched,....much easier to deal with. This is like switching in a phone booth.....BNSF needs to get their Arse in Gear......

Nice catch’s besides seeing the trains moving on the main, yard switching is my favorite

I love the addition of that recorded audio conversation of that yard crew, thank you for recording that. Will you be going back here to record more of this yard because I would love to see more?

Do you know the exact times of switching they do around the yard Edit: btw i went around 2 to 3pm didnt see any switching...
