When you buy the ultimate driving machine, you want to have the ultimate sound quality as well. For this reason, I am upgrading the amplifier in my BMW X7 to the Alpha One amp that's made to fit these cars and not only that, to make them sound much better as a result. This BMW X7 has the Harman Kardon sound system with 14 speakers and 2 subwoofers, so the little amp that comes with the car can only do so much. The new amp doubles the power and provides a much clearer and deep sound out of all 16 speakers. If your X5, X6 or X7 has the HiFi sound system, the difference would be even bigger! In this video, I show you what comes in the box, how to install the amp and listen to a few sounds to show you what it sounds like.

Im glad someone installed this amp without changing speakers first. My HK sound sytem doesnt sound bad, just under powered.
I installed the AlphaOne amp and speakers in my 23 x5. Everything was plug and play and fairly easy to do. The software to create sounds profiles was a bit of a learning curve but it sounds really really good, definitely worth it.

I have M340 with the 16 speaker Harman/Kardon. Very much planning on getting this amp soon.

what is the phone holder you used for x7? looks great.
I checked, they no longer have the amp for the X7 could it be on back order?
Why just the amp and not the speakers as well? Wouldn’t the Alpha one sub and speakers make much more difference?

Well yes, but it’s expensive to replace both at the same time. I wanted to see what difference just the amp would make and then if it wasn’t enough, I’d do the speakers as well. I’ve been very happy with the amp only upgrade for now and won’t be putting in the speakers unless I get bored of current set up.
What about heat
You have it with just the stock speakers right? Can they handle the power?

Yes, I have it with stock speakers. They handle the power just fine as there are MANY of them in the car and the load is split among them. It’s not AS good as in my Z4 with the upgraded speakers, but much better than stock Amp

Yes, it would. You’ll get a different harness and bracket though.

It’s for reconfiguring the unit. So you can connect it to a laptop and change the profiles, presents and basically anything you’d ever want to.

Your car def has ASD. You need to code it off with bimmercode or your fake engine noise will be annoying through the new amp. It will muddy the bass.

I am trying to look at options of getting an amp too for the F97 … Is this worth it as an upgrade to get better sound …. Was thinking of getting the Match 10 UP amp

I thought it was definitely worth it. I first did it in my Z4 and it made a HUGE difference. So, when I got the family car, I wanted better sound as well. It adds lots of volume and bass and depth to the sound.
