Our Volvo 940 project build has taken its time, and after nearly 2 years to the day, the BMW M54b30 engine swap is finally complete.
A gruelling challenge George decided to take on, mainly because this isn’t a common swap. It could be one of the first in the UK, so a lot of eletrical technicalities became problematic once the swap was initially done, but after perserverance we now have a complete working car, which still uses the factory volvo clocks!!

Awesome lads. What diff ratio is the volvo diff? Might be a long one.

Not too sure not on the ratio TBF. It was only a 2 litre engine so think chances are it is on the smaller side

@WeaselWerkz maybe the extra weight makes it feel slower than expected. My touring is ok, but the difference between mine and when I fit them in the e36 chassis is night and day, e36 they fly..

Yeh think the diff needs some alteration to be honest, it's on the list of stuff still to come. But first need to get some miles on the car! And some money to fund it.... 😅

The operative word here is “ruined”. Removed an indestructible Volvo red block and replaced it with BMW 💩! 🤣

M54 will run forever if maintained correctly 😂

Indestructible yes, reliable no. I've found myself on the side of the road fixing a red block far more times than I ever have with an m54. Plus it's more than twice the power n/a compared to a red block! 🎉
