Not a bad tutorial. I bought new door clips, cheap and easy.

Amazing sound, crisp and clear and better levels. Installation instructions 4/10. Door clips need to be new they are one time use. Lock pin can go flying when taking the door card off. Be gentle around the ambient lighting. my front doors and front trim LED strip is blotchy now. Overall glad I did it just wish bmw didn't over Engineer everything.

Would this work with factory spec base audio (not HK) or is it a specific wiring loom needed? What are the options for us not having Harman Kardon sound system? I miss having tweeters to begin with...

what if I don't have rear doors speakers, any chance I can add them? will there be wiring in the door or will I have to add?

I begun with the rear shelf speakers. For those who are trying, just get hold of your trim removal tool with the thinnest edge to get the covers out very quickly. I had to get a new set of tools to find one that was thin enough.

There is a tool in the car audio electronics world called a “Boeing tool“, because it was first used to separate carbon fiber sheets on aircraft structures. It is steel and very thin and it is only about $12 right now.

Will this work for Bmw 6 gt g32 ?

I'm missing the part where you replace the mid range and reconnect all the cables.

What is the part # for the door card clips?

I also have a 2017 G30 but with the base HiFi system and there’s much more going on behind that door panel than with older BMW models I’ve seen in videos. I’m worried that replacing my speakers and messing with all those wires/harnesses will cause new rattles and creaks so I’m fine with just replacing the amplifier.

Yes you can. But you will need the tweeter covers for the front doors.

so... what did you do with the hk speakers? if they are collecting dust, I can use them in my G30. Donation? maybe :)

great video, but you really need a different camera to film stuff because the focus is very bad. and microphone sounds too bassy.

Aren't they good enough?

How in the world do you remove a rear quarter window shade so I can take the rear door panel off?

Here's all the info we have: Pop off the horizontal window shade as shown here (different BMW, same methodology) - about 2:50 in - kzread.info/dash/bejne/q2Zp2pigeazNgKg.html From there, there should be a Torx screw visible along the top edge of the door panel with the horizontal shade removed, just like in the above video. Then, the only screw is behind the door handle, similar to the front door. From there, release the tabs using your blue panel removal tool along the front, bottom, and rear edges (just like the front doors) and then lift up with the sides and bottom of the door released. 15:24 I have a few hundred choice words for those stupid clips. The German engineers love to complicate things, we’ve had one piece plastic clips for 35 years and they work fine. The key to putting the panel back is the clip must be “reset“, in other words, it needs to not be expanded. If you try to put it back into the steel hole when it is in the expanded state, it will never, never go back. When you put the door panel back, unlike the old-style plastic clips, these take very little force to pop into place. God help you if you try to put the door panel back with just one of these not reset, in other words, in new condition.

They are one time use, had to order a complete new set at 3.75 each...they could have explained that in the video a little better.

appreciate the video, but the focus issues are really distracting, and make this hard to watch. Maybe a higher aperature next time

you really have huge problem with focus..change camera, its annoying while video is useful

good information, horrible video taping, too blurry, making me dizzy.

what a complete jerk. totally ruin the factory fitting of door cards etc. The car will have that many rattles, vibrations and the like going on once you put it back together amateurishly that it will have been a complete waste of time

Speakers downgrade/pocket downgrade/good mood downgrade/ and the most imported Sound Downgrade!!!! when you have a harman/kardon and you wanna a sound upgrade you need much more then to change the speakers whit another one whit the same siZe in the same holes and the same amplifire , wtf!
