Maniobra de esquiva
En esta es la primera pasada que hicimos con el BMW Serie 3. Casualmente, fue la que conseguimos realizar con éxito a mayor velocidad.
Más que la velocidad en sí misma que tampoco es muy elevada nos parece más reseñable que las reacciones del coche fueron buenas en todo momento y fáciles de controlar.
En las imágenes que se aprecia que el conductor tuvo que corregir la trayectoria en la segunda zona de conos para afrontar la última con el coche mejor colocado.
Esa intervención se debe a que aún no estaba familiarizado con la rapidez de la dirección. Esta unidad tenía montada la opcional que BMW denomina "Deportiva Variable", que viene en combinación con la "Suspensión deportiva M", que en este caso es de dureza fija.
En los sucesivos intentos que realizamos a mayor velocidad, como este a 79 km/h, no conseguimos ejecutar la maniobra satisfactoriamente. En todo caso, las reacciones del coche siguieron siendo buenas y el deslizamiento de las ruedas no fue excesivo.
Es este otro intento, realizado a 81 km/h, tiene la peculiaridad de que está hecho con el modo de conducción Sport, que no afecta a la suspensión, pero sí a la dureza de la dirección y a las ayudas electrónicas a la estabilidad. A pesar de ello, el conductor tuvo unas sensaciones parecidas que en la pasada anterior.
Eslalon
En la primera parte del ejercicio de eslalon, el BMW Serie 3 cambia de apoyo con agilidad y responde bien a las órdenes que el conductor da con el volante.
Sin embargo, en la última parte del ejercicio, la trayectoria fue mucho menos limpia e incluso el coche se llega a descolocar con brusquedad. Las dos pasadas que mostramos están hechas con el modo de conducción Confort.
Es posible que lo anterior no hubiera sucedido si el conductor hubiera movido el volante con más mesura. En todo caso el estilo de conducción ha sido el habitual: hay otros coches que reaccionan con más suavidad en este mismo ejercicio.

Yo también tengo la sensación de que al conductor le ha costado un poco acabar de entender el coche, pero de todas formas tiene muy buen comportamiento este serie 3, y va bastante mejor que el Clase C que se probó en el anterior vídeo.
Extremely fast steering reaction
77 is ideal. Faster times means more esc intervention which makes the car slow through corners and it’s not what you want for a fun to drive car. It’s also safe because if going faster than 77 you can use the brakes a bit to help avoid the obstacles anyway

resultado bastante mediocre. Un 508 resulta bastante mejor en esta prueba!
A thing with this chassis, tyre sidewall makes a BIG difference. Went from r19 to r17 for winter and the car is not nearly as posed on weight change, etc. On summer wheels 225 40 19 with 255 35 19 conti sport contact 6 car pulls 1.2 lateral G easy. All stock no springs no arb nothing.

Strange reaction of the ESP, it seems to let the car understeer way too long then to react much too sharply. I'm not sure such a weird bevahiour feels really comfortable for the driver...

La velocidad en el slalon fue la habitual? Me pareció un pelín más alta de lo que solemos ver. De todas formas, ese coche tiene unas reacciones un tanto extrañas al girar el volante, desconozco si el conductor también las percibe

Questa è la differenza tra il super telaio della Giulia con sospensioni a quadrilatero all' anteriore ed il telaio generalista della serie 3 con Mcpherson all' anteriore. E niente, fa già ridere cosi. Senza contare della sospensione elettronica di questo cassone tedesco. Ahahahahah ciao bmw, alla prossima serie 3. Ah già, dimenticavo che oggi contano solo i vari "hey mercedes" o "hey bmw" ahahahahahahah

Triste verità... prima nelle recensioni riportavano le sensazioni di guida, il motore ecc... adesso sembra di vedere la recensione di uno smartphone... l'altro giorno volendo informarmi sui motori della nuova classe a dal sito mercedes non trovai nulla di tecnico nella sezione di presentazione solo tecnologia adas e altro...

@@nicoletapopescu6530 avrà pure il quadrilatero amo anteriore ma e un cesso di macchina a livelli di tenuta... E meglio la serie precedente che aveva il mcperson.. A questo punto meglio un a4 che anche se ha il motore leggermente a sbalzo va meglio
Im impressed. There's almost no under or oversteer. Especialy at 77km/h, while most of other cars skid (more or less) from the begging to the end. 3-series seems to be extremly stable/sharp, but steering inputs are not deep enough to pass test at higher speeds (in my opinion). No offence, I love this channel anyway. The most valuable thing is not a achieved speed, but video of car behaviour that we can compare to others. Btw, would be great to see moose tests at higher speed (there is 1 "iso test" around 140km/h for example). Higher speed - bigger differences. Shame, that most journalists stop at few words of "3-series is a well-driving car"... Even Germans from Auto motor und sport are done with their "supertests"... :( Ps. I've heard many times that steering of new 3-series is... too responsive, even nervous. Belive it, it's even possible to notice it in that video. Huge shame, but I'm impressed with that agility anyway. At 1st attempt driver steer back 2 times, and both steering inputs are easily noticable even from outside of the car. Oh, wow!

There is tons of understeer. Buy eyes. Front axle has lazy movement at second reaction. For me its mediocre. This understeer push at 0:39 is just awfull.

"Awfull understeer which is the most noticable at... the lowest attempt... ... :D Buy a faster brain. Attempt at 77km/h celearly proove that the car is really nice balanced, but steering inputs are not smooth enough. Guess you are both talking about "full tons of understeer", because car hit cones with a front bumper, am I right? Facepalm... Sorry, seems like you have no idea what are you talking about. Just next one dudes who take those (awesome) tests way too serious, focus only on speed and cones... Btw... "lazy movement"? In the attempt, where this guy steer back TWO times, and the car still stays stable, react immediately, and turn heavier than should without special problems? Try to do the same with 1 of Audis, or just watch A6, A7, Q8 attempts. Then tell me about tons of understeer and trashtalk about my eyes. Seriously... Have you watched more than 1 moose test?

@@netuserist I believe partly the reason why the steering input is what it is, is due to the variable sport steering which makes it more difficult for the driver. I've driven a G20 320d xDrive with 225/50/R17 wheels now for over 40 000 kilometers and from my observation the car reacts incredibly well to steering input, there really is no understeer or oversteer as long as you don't push it over its limits. When you do, with DSC on it tends to understeer just a little, but with DSC off (in winter conditions) it is very easy to either oversteer (in a fun way) or to safely let the car understeer and let the tyres regain grip. This is entirely up to you as a driver. If you shift the weight of the car to the front and then let the rear of the car start to rotate and then press the accelerator, oh boy the fun on snow or ice in corners, it is so easy. This car is a masterpiece of engineering. Our car does not have variable sport steering and it is not an M-sport. It's with the standard suspension and tyres.

@@Manakuski @netuserist I own a bmw m340i 2021 x drive. It has the msport suspension and msport differential. The car handles like a piece of heaven!! It’s like a go cart or even better than a go cart! It’s so darty and precise in its movement compared to the steering input that it baffles me many times! I wonder what magic bmw had done on this car but it’s simply superb!!! I owned an f30 320d before this and it handled good but nothing compared do the G20 M340i

Not really. Saw this tests from other reviewers, results are very poor as well. G20 doesn't stand up to BMW high standards of previous generations, sadly

Sólo dejo por aquí... Nuevo 508 pasó a 80 sobrado (y con tracción delantera solamente). Siendo poseedor de un BMW (Serie 6 gran Coupe), puedo decir que lamentablemente "lo premium" de BMW empieza en la Serie 5 (o en su defecto, modelos customizados por Alpina, desde el D3 Biturbo).

Una de dos, o la dirección es demasiado directa en comparación con coches similares, o el conductor tuvo un mal día. Creo que puede conseguir resultados mejores, porque el coche parece no haberse acercado al límite en ningún momento.

Yo diría que la dirección de paso variable no es la mejor aliada para ese tipo de maniobras, por lo demás el coche no parece pasar apuros, y estoy seguro de que podría superar la prueba a mayor velocidad.

Yo tengo un serie 3 y la dirección es pesada, por lo demás creo el auto pasa ok el test del alce sobre 100 km/h inclusive

(0:13) This is the first attempt at the moose test with the BMW 3 Series. By coincidence, it was the fastest we could do it correctly. (0:21)More than the speed -that wasn't all that high- we need to say that the reactions of the car were good at all times and easy to control. (0:32) In the image we can see that the driver had to correct the trajectory within the second zone to get the car in a better position for the last zone. (0:42)This intervention is due to the driver, who wasn't used to the speed in the change of direction of the car. This unit had optional BMW's "Variable Sport", which has "M sport suspension", which stiffnes is fixed. (1:00)Other tries at higher speeds, like this one at 79km/h, we couldn't finish the test properly. Anyway, the car's reaction were still good and the tyre slip wasn't excessive. (1:17)In this attempt at 81 km/h, it's done with the Sport mode, which doesn't affect suspension, but it does affect to the stiffnes of the direction and the behaviour of the electronic stability control. The driver had a feeling very similar to the previous attempt. (1:39) Slalon At the beginning of the Slalon exercise, the BMW 3 Series transfers weigh with agilty and responds good to what the driver does with the wheel. But, at the end of the exercise, the trajectory was less clean and even the car moves with abruptly. The two attempts we show were done with the Comfort drive mode. (2:01)It is possible than that wouldn't have happened if the driver moved the steering wheel more softly. Anyway, the driving style was the usual: there are other cars that finish this excersice more softly while driving them in the same manner.

I can report from personal experience that a regular 320d xDrive G20 with 225/50/R17 Bridgestone Turanza T005 non-runflats and without M-sport or variable sport steering is a joy to drive and doesn't react or feel weird. However the DSC is quite aggressive, but that is why you have DTC or you can just turn off the DSC. I never experienced this kind of "snapping", but with aggressive operation of the steering wheel the DSC does brake a wheel immediatly, kinda like as a precaution. This behaviour is way more pronounced with northern winter tyres, (Continental icecontact 3, same size) and is a bit annoying sometimes. With DSC off, no problems though and the car feels like a good 3-series BMW should.

@@josemanuelpascualhernandez1288 pues en esta ocasión te equivocas, parece que este conductor debe estar acostumbrado a conducir vehículos de tracción delantera.Es la primera vez que veo que la mayoría de los comentarios sobre el 90% opina lo mismo del conductor y se nota en muchos movimientos bruscos sobretodo en el eslalon.

It went precisely and exactly where the wheel was pointed by the driver. So the driver was it's only limit. This is the best behaving car I've seen along with Alfa Romeo

i love how people come here to bash on bmw while praising toyota, hyundai or opel crossland x or some other ridiculous stuff :) these tests are not the same on all cars. I am sure if the driver would get to know the car BEFORE performing this test, it would turn out completely different for all tests performed. anyway, life is more than a moose test result, get the car you LIKE and stop hating on other people's preferences. And before anyone jumps on me, know that I actually drive a Skoda. cheers!

No estoy de acuerdo amigo, si miras con atención el eslalon verás como se comportan la carrocería y las suspensiones del coche, no muy bien por más que el conductor entre de otras formas. Cada eslalon va perdiendo más bruscamente en control.

El condunctor no estay acostumbrado a este tipo de coche es la unica explicacion que veo....lo estay siempre corrigiendo la trayectoria quando no es necessario!!!

Да где же? Не предсказуема. Как то дёргается в критических моментах. Машина для спортсменов и к которой надо хорошо привыкнуть иначе улетишь в ебеням.

Any car is only as good as its driver :D I dont want to be harsh but these guys are far from the best drivers, of course to be fair the average bmw driver or a driver in general is also far from the best driver I guess..

No dudo de sus habilidades pero no fue su mejor día ( el mismo narrador menciona que tuvo que corregir la trayectoria) Si es un problema de una dirección muy rápida, en sucesivos se debería haber corregido No quise ofender a nadie pero repito se veo poco fluido y no parece venir del coche...

Nope, he is at least better than most of ordinary drivers. That is why the ESP and suspension should make the ordinary drivers feel more in control and make it feel secure for most drivers. Which is obviously and sadly not the case in this model!!
