kinda felt like it when he said the new iX looked "sweet". That grill is a very controversial piece right now, even professional car designers and previous BMW Designers criticized it. You're allowed to find it sweet, but don't make the claim "it IS sweet"

If they don't close it down as part of their money saving measures they started last year. The facility was planed before that. As someone I know said, that worked on projects for BMW: "If it wasn't for their M division you would think they have no money, that's how much they cut corners and safe money."

That is insane. I even hear that women find men who still live with their parents attractive because they know they are saving money for a place...LOL May god have mercy on your soul.

I bet some BMW stakeholder dad had been insisted by his son to sponsor Linus' work. And we're not mad for it.

Fun Fact, my grandfather was the first person to put a computer in a car. He appeared in Popular Science for it and my dad at the age of 8 was the first to "drive" it. Always warms my heart knowing it started with Dr. Fenton

I think it's like 1 GB per camera, and the recording is probably only a few second long rather than the whole test.

I went to see the BMW production in Munich and I've never seen anything that impressive. It was a gigantic factory hall full of 15 feet tall robots (literally several thousands of these) all working at a time in cages. Mind-blowing what they pulled off this time... Thanks for the cool video!

We can just imagine how cars will be in 100 years!

I know this is a sponsored video but, man, I really want to see more. This is like one of those ads that I'm willing to watch 'til the end.

I’ve been to Porsche R&D for some collab work. Sadly I didn’t get to see this kind of fancy simulators, but they had a really interesting testing site where they use electric engines to simulate any type of motor, including vibrations, cylinder characteristics and anything that wouldn’t even cross your mind. They use that to test the transmission, breaks and various electronic assistance systems. And their workshop was the cleanest I’ve ever seen...all tools looked shiny new and there was basically not a single drop of oil or smudge I could see.

At least it is not "a sink full of dirty dishes", as the American saying goes. @Linus: Try using "eine Menge Licht" or the Bavarian (BMW) translation "a ganz a vui liachd" for "an awful lot of light" ... instead of "a sink full of light" (dirty dishes) ... next time ... then there wouldn't be so many unknowledgable comments. Do come to Bavaria ... it's a great place!

I think it could be1gb per camera. You although have to consider that one test is only a view seconds long so 1GB seems reasonable.

I was looking for this comment. Last time I did slow mo I was in the 5GB per real time second at 1500 FPS, maybe they're perfectly in sync and avoid extra space used and maybe that don't need 1080p... Idk but that number also threw me off

@BMW this was awesome! I would LOVE to see more! But... also.... I can't help but wonder how with all that VR tech to previous designs and such you still ended up thinking the front of the new 2021 7 series was a good idea...

I really wish I could get you guys to come check out our chrome plating line. The amount or power and cooling we use is astonishing. Not to mention it’s just a freaking cool process

I think they mean one petabyte of footage. The high speed cameras used in crash tests mostly record with 1000fps in something around fullhd.
