BMW R69S - Motorcycle Review

The BMW R69S was the company’s main sporting motorcycle in the 1960s and was well-known for its reliability, good handling and fine finish. It has a 594cc air-cooled opposed-twin engine, which develops 42bhp and around 11,000 of the machines were made between 1960 to 1969.

Top speed I've done on my 67 R69S was 122mph. and cruises all day at 70- 80. 80 is smoother than 70.
My eyes met one of these bikes from across the internet recently......and now I am obsessed with obtaining one!

JUst a clean $40.000 .00 in New England ..
I had a 1961 R69 s in the mid 1970's . To this day it is my favorite bike .... Why BMW stopped offering the Earles forks is beyond me .. You go over a big bump and the front came up instead of diving ....

Glad you like it. It's great to hear from folks so far away! We're planning to do similar little films on an early 1926 R42 and a 1954 R51/3 in the next few months...

Yes, we've tried to rectify that in some of our more recent films, such as that about the BSA Starfire. Thanks for the feedback!
bmw advertised '24 hours at 110 mph,' there wouldn't be many bikes in the 1960's that could deliver that. and if yer going fast for long, you want smooth too.
Forgive my ignorance but other R69S’s I have see have the R69 displayed on the rear mudguard - was this an option or design change?

This likely is a 1963 or earlier bike. I'm fairly sure the R69S was displayed starting in 1964.
Damn that transmission noise........

Worst I've ever heard, surprised they didn't do something to mask or change it before production started.

From a time when German engineering was excellent. Unlike today where everyone still believes that to be the case, but the product is made from chocolate fireguards
