    SOLVED! i replaced pre-cat sensors and this fixed secondary air not ready. thanks! e53 2002 x5 smog o2 sensor upstream sensor 1 bank 1 and bank 2. so replaced all 4.

    i checked voltage before starting and it was 0.950 on both, after i started the secondary air turned went from OFF to UPS and the voltage didnt change. after a minute or so the secondary air went to OFF again, i could hear it turn off, and the voltage of both sensors went down to 0.115. Are both of them bad?

    Go to auto Store in their help isle grab u set of o2 bungs $7-8 the screw into the exhaust pipe and then u thread the o2 sensor into the bung. All it does it move the sensor up and out of the exhaust stream by about 1/4-1/2”. U can also do this on cars w no cats ect. Works like. Charm 😉

    Having same problem with a 96 Saab 9000. May have same problem Similar readings but only one set of sensors and no secondary air pump on this one.

    Hi Julian, does the engine need to be running to get a evaporative system ready? I replaced oxygen sensors and they passed but evap system still not ready. Thank you in advance. 2001 BMW 330xi

    yes but if try to get smog you ok in california they let pass emission with evap monitor not ready

    Hello. Maybe you can help. Ive done everything to my 2000 bmw Z3. Catalyst monitor is incomplete. I replaced all 4 oxygen sensors with brand new Bosch sensors. I did a smoke test and made sure there are no leaks. I drove 1100 miles it wont complete catalyst monitor. What do you recommend? Thanks

    ok first what state u are california? then do u have acces to scaner with live data so u can see how o2 its workin? i can give u idea if u want !! now whats the mileage on the car its important cuz its way if the cats. are . if those cat they not workin well they make monitor not set ready, now i m not said they bad at all ok but if look my videos its 2 videos i show how make pass smog with 2 spark plug adapters i will your car pass smog if u have more questions let me know

    @@julian1automecanic Hello Julian. Thx for responding. Yes, I am in california. I have INPA software on my laptop and have scanned it multiple times. No codes. 02 sensors are all within normal limits. I have about 156k miles on the car. Please give me whatever advice you can so I can pass. Thanks!

    @@juandontworryaboutit4150 Yes I did. FINALLY! Drove the care a couple thousand miles tho from Stockton to Bakersfield multiple times. Just drove the shit out of it. Finally scanned green and smogged it few days ago. Good luck!

    On my 2013 535i I changed new cat from dealer new Bosch o2 I drove 400 miles still showing sensor not ready

    If my check engine light is not on but the service engine light is on will it cause my 2000 BMW 323i to not pass

    Also the airbag light is on because it has to be reset

    No worrie about air bags. I wiil pass but check engine if its on not pass i think on bmw service. Engine light it same

    Are they normal narrow band 02 sensors or wideband af sensor?

    yes this sensor are normal O2 sensor they work with heat 0.00 mv to 0.900 mv

    My O2 sensors check ok and I get Catalyst monitor INC status as well as Sec Air System INC so how would I fix this to pass CA smog monitor test without spending a small fortune. I am not a mechanic.

    hi yes first do u have scanner with live data on a list o2 sensor ? or any friend ? tha way u can can see when the car its coold if they move donw remenber air pump push air to lower emission so sensor volts go low volt i til pump its off if not replace o2 sensor or look the video by min 6 and also min 16 you see. to be honest if u change o2 sensor u kill this problem normal on bmw 👍

    ok try firts when engine cold plug ur scanner get ready to see on screnn bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 1. start ur car and listen if thd air pump push air if its boths sensor go lower voltage like less .455 v or .000 then when pump its off those numbers going back .900 v to .100 up and down every 4 secons then let me know

    I have the same problem Renaissance man it's cause exhaust leak. Check your exhaust cat mine has a hole in it

    always check 02s are reading correctly, but they still might not be the problem, you have to check how they interact with fuel trims combined. You could bench test them and eliminate them from the equation. sometimes 02s are reacting to another problem.

    Disculpe amigo. Tengo un bmw2003 325i y en las mañanas al prenderlo en frio se apaga como 3 veces y hace algunas explosiones en el motor. Quisiera saber cual es la lectura de los sensores secundarios que monitorean los catalizadores? En mi escaner me dan la lectura de 0.120 milivoltios los dos sensores secundarios.

    el sensor secundario o detras del cat. no causa ningun efecto solo monitorea el cat. y mientras esta calentando esa lentura es correcta

    @@julian1automecanic ok. Los dos sensores secundarios que monitorean los catalizadores en frio estan en 0.400 y cuando calienta se quedan en 0.100 y de ahí ya no suben el voltaje los dos. Los que estan antes del catalizador si funcionan en su voltaje de 0.100 a 0.900.

    @@julian1automecanic me salen estos codigos p0491 y p0492 flujo insuficiente de inyeccion de aire. Ya revise la bomba de aire y su funciona y se apaga como al minuto. Pero hay una manguerita delgada conectada en una valvula q parece egr y no hay vacio en esa manguerita. No se si sea normal..

    Bank 1. But i replaced bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 1 sensor 2. I still have 2 red blinking monitor after i drove the car and the status for smog is yellow. On my meter. Not ready. I don’t know the procedure for drive cycle.
