I totally agree. I get it that the winner is determined by the time, but if you also know the speed that tells you a lot more about what is happening near the finish line.

Here some specs from german HP: Audi 450Hp, 600NM, 1830kg Bmw 530hp, 750NM, 1965kg Weight difference: 135kg Hp difference: 80hp Torque difference: 150nm Power to weight ratio: Audi 4.07kg/hp Bmw 3.71kg/hp Dispite These disadvantages its respectable that the Audi can keep up from a digg. The bmw just used a newer Version of ZF 8HP gearbox and its a Coupe . The audi is station wagon with a worse aero at higher speeds

When you have these head to head comparisons, it would be cool to repeat them with you driving the other car and see what happens. So instead of 3 rounds, you'll have 6, driving both cars.

Obviously, you don't understand 4.4L V8 vs 2.9L V6. RS4 only loss by 0.1 sec because of Mat's inability to do a successful launch

The BMW is 200kg heavier so if your thinking the Audi is heavier cause it’s an estate you would be wrong
When you mentioned the information about the cars like the power and engine please write them on the screen so it is easier to get all the information.

Superb engine in the Audi. 2 cylinders less, less power, way less torque... pretty close performance and even better sound in my opinion. I think the Audi lost mostly because of aerodynamics, because until high speed it was really close. To be honest, if I had the money I would buy... ... The Giulia QV :P

@@wikki11 Yes, better sound. The BMW is completely muted, but it's not BMW's fault, the actual regulations in terms of exhaust noise limits are killing the sound of powerful cars, but I am sure the M8 is going to sound better.

I never said anything about aestethics, by the way, I was talking about how a 2.9 V6 almost match the performance of a 4.4 V8. BTW, I would never buy an Audi over a BMW (I am talking about the 1 (the old one), 2 ,3 ,4 and 5 series)

@@SuperLisandro86 then you have not hear them BOTH in real life...the BMW tone is just to dark for microphones, similar to AMGs und RS6...on the otherhand the RS4 sounds like there is something blocking the sound comes out in real life...even with aftermarket exhausts its a sad sound...

@@Fantic1980 That would actually be a pretty good race against my gsxr 600. Its got about 135 hp and weighs around 420 pounds. Generally with bikes you need a little over 600 and sleek car with a fast trans to beat a 600 and 1000 hp for a liter bike.
In the rolling race the RS4 was in Comfort!!!

Maybe in the US, but 0-60 mph (0-100km/h) is the most irrelevant time...100-200-300 km/h is what counts ( at least on the free german autobahn).

Check 1:53 how the 850i leaps right after it switches its gears. Orgasmic!
For break test, you should do it one by one. For example - First the BMW - mark where it stopped and then the Audi. Its more easy to calculate. (just my thought)
Now lets do the 2 people in the backseat test. And then the trunk capacity test. Yeah...thats what i thought so. 2.9 vs 4.4. Respect audi.

People are banging on about how well the Audi did considering its lower power. Acceleration is (mainly) governed by power to weight ratio and Matt said that the Audi was 200kg lighter. Guess the ratios are close and so were the cars, so no surprise. As for braking... even if you assume the cars were in a dead heat, the BMW deserves massive credit for stopping an extra 200kg in the same distance. And anyone who’s complaining that it’s an estate car versus a coupe is mistaken because aerodynamics don’t come into play until over 60mph and the BMW was ahead by then already. So all-in-all a good comparison, which the BMW won. Drag races don’t help much really, what’s enjoyable about cars is the way they feel and Audi’s always (to me) feel like front wheel drive cars with extra grip, so they’re never going to feel like a car with the engine weight behind the front axle. It’s not their fault. In fact Audis are a triumph of engineering over design... I.e considering they’re designed for interior space and safe understeery handling, they’ve done well to make them this good at all.
